Those who manage to blow huge lottery winnings are just idiots, and you can't just blame it on the fact that she was young.
If I had won that money at 16, I know for a fact that I would not have blown it all.

I remember I met a guy in my home town who had won about four or five mil in the 649. He was telling me "Oh yeah buddy, it doesn't go that far eh. After buying a house for me, a house for my parents, a truck, a boat, a car for my wife, some trucks for my buddies, a big screen tv, and taking a couple of vacations it was almost gone"
It was obvious proof that money doesn't equal class. He looked like every other middle aged slob from the island. Worn out jeans, a ball cap, and an ugly mustache. He just blew through his money and didn't even bother getting his teeth fixed (seriously)
Have fun spending money on property taxes, vehicle insurance, and dock fees. Idiot.
Stupid people shouldn't be allowed to have money.

3-4 mills won't last you long in Vancouver! Especially after you buy a house in the west side for 2+mills, the lotto is nothing to go crazy about.

when used properly, the winner of a lotto should be able to live a great life in any part of Vancouver without working; however, a 3-4mill jackpot isn't enough to transform an ordinary life to a top-end luxurious life and sustains it.
When i say top-end luxurious life, I mean living in a massive condo/house with a beautiful garden in the nice part (Downtown, Waterfront, West Side) of Vancouver, driving many nice exotic cars, wearing top-end designer clothings, partying everyday, and travelling around the world.
well.. my theory only applies to those who don't really have much property and who still have a long life ahead of them.

if she spends, let's say, 600K on a house, a decent sub 100K car.
the rest of the money goes into some low-risk investment, I am sure smoking crack everyday can be affordable.

C'mon...how many of us wouldn't waste a load of money on blow?
But seriously, I'd probably buy a Ferrari and then live off the interest on the rest.

How can you get a house and Ferrari for 750K? Unless you're living in the subs, there is no decent house in Vancouver that will even go for 750K alone.

$1M for a regular house plus Ferrari is doable...
I don't think I would want a huge mansion anyway...

for me: i'll buy a lexus hybrid + buy house on east side + condo in downtown + single level house for the parents on the south side...
invest in a small biz / startup (150k max)
bank the rest.
i think i can do all that for about 3mil + have some left over

I'd buy a nice place in the West Point Grey area, retire, and buy season's tickets to Canucks games till I die. I'd give the rest away to charity, because all it's going to do is bring me grief. Perpetual scholarships in as many schools in the east end as I can manage.
Honestly, if I had that much money, I would become an evil person. I'd be going to Vegas. Three hookers a night. Buying fancy shit just because I can. Being chauffeured around.
Wait a minute................ she only won 3 million........... should have read the whole thread. Sorry.

Or maybe I'm just a guy and the disparity in clothing volume between men and women leads me to exaggerate.

typical, not thinking of the future. All she had to do was deposit in the bank and just earn interest. But, when you watch that show how the lottery changed my life, there were a few cases like that.
Have to keep your head on your shoulders and stay grounded.
