Poll: Mother curbed my wheels, what would you do?

I can't seem to create a poll here, but need some opinions. Please reply with a letter(s) (see choices) and a small blurb explaining your rationale. Here's the story, sorry for the length:

I lent my nice shiny car to my mother for a day, and she decides to rash up my rear left wheel. It's no small nick; it goes 1/4 around the rim and is easily 1cm wide in many parts. Didn't see some curb in a parking lot blah blah blah..

This car is 100% paid for + owned by me. Gas, insurance, the works. Car is 6 years old now but I've been babying it since Day 1. The rims are authentic AMGs (ie not the regular stock stuff), and took me several months of hunting online to locate.

My mother is definitely not the best driver. She has already damaged (visible) my front and rear bumpers by smacking into stuff (all during parking) on previous occasions, and she drives my car only maybe once a month. I have already let those slide (ie the damage has NOT been fixed for cost reasons) but seriously, this is getting tiring. My mother obviously hasn't learned.

I am Chinese, so no, I cannot beat/murder my parents. ;) I also live at home though I do pay monthly rent.

My mother does not have a car of her own. So it's either my car or public transit.

The dealer wants $1100CAD (after tax) for ONE wheel. Meanwhile, a used one can be probably had for maybe $300, but is obviously subject to availability. My rims are used, but that particular one was 100% PERFECT before this curbing, so I don't want to just get some beaten up replacement off eBay unless it's also in perfect condition, which isn't the easiest to pull off.

NuBrite said they can fix my wheel for $250, but I have no idea if they can match my other wheels in terms of colour or paint quality. I think AMGs might have some sort of special coating as my stock non-AMG wheels cake brake dust like crazy and these ones don't. So honestly it's a real gamble.

My mother is apologetic and is willing to cough up the cash for all the options below. If you were in my shoes, what would you do? Please pick a letter(s) (you can pick more than 1):
A) Forgive her with a smile since she's my mother after all. Pay for the damage to my car (including the rim) out of my own pocket.
B) Have her buy me a brand new rim off the stealership.
C) Have her pay for a repaint at NuBrite. Since I'm worried about colourmatching and my left front has light damage anyways, I'm going to do both on the same side.
D) Have her pay for one off eBay in excellent condition. The biggest downside to this one is that I don't know when I'll find one, so this could take a while.
E) Also make her pay for repaints of my front and rear bumpers, to fix the damage she inflicted on my car in the past.
F) Find her a beater Honda or something, make her buy it using her money, then ban her from driving my car.

Thanks!

Forgive her then buy her a beater for her to drive....

Rikaro 09-10-2009 01:02 AM

Did your parents paid anything for the car? If so then I wouldn't ask for the money back.

PS: It's only rashes right? If the wheel drives straight I would have cared less. (that's unless you buy a separate car for her, then if it was me, I would fix the rim up and she will never drive it again.)

Alphamale 09-10-2009 01:03 AM

Beat-her

slammer111 09-10-2009 01:06 AM

^ Parents gave me a loan at buying time, but I've returned the full amount (and more) already.

I have no problem letting her drive it, but her racking up all this additional damage really isn't giving me incentive anymore.

Euro7r 09-10-2009 01:10 AM

Lay the smackdown on her and then never let her touch the car again. Just drive her around when she wants to go out instead. Or just get a manual car, then for sure she won't be able to drive that hahah.

godwin 09-10-2009 01:10 AM

A and F.. you are living under her roof.

SpuGen 09-10-2009 01:21 AM

Buy her a car.
It's what I'm doing after my mom curbed my SSR's.

Mine was a parking rash though.

Renxo 09-10-2009 01:28 AM

buy ur own house or stfu imo....deal wit it n buy her a beater. Women can't drive worth shit, why give them the chance to wreck your shit?

Supafly 09-10-2009 06:23 AM

just fix the rim yourself...if you're really anal about colour, you can always colour match the two rims on the same side of the car.

then buy your mom a beater.

hk20000 09-10-2009 06:48 AM

A, and you really need to get her a beater that's worth less than your rims.

my dad curbed the crap out of my AMG blings too.... I mean whachagonna do? AMG cars are built for old people to drive they take that kind of abuse every now and then.

Mugen EvOlutioN 09-10-2009 06:52 AM

kill her

okok, get her to buy u a new set of balling rims lollll

;)

sonick 09-10-2009 07:41 AM

C, E, F

kknater 09-10-2009 07:50 AM

Not one of the choices but, make her pay for something else or a service and call it even, like... pay for another expense or... u dont have to wash the dishes for 6 months.

I hate washing the dishes.

Dinan3 09-10-2009 07:56 AM

It's going to hurt her a lot if you ask her to cough up a few hundred bucks.

Fix it yourself and maybe get her a car to use.

91civicZC 09-10-2009 07:57 AM

The woman GAVE BIRTH TO YOU, and you’re worried about your wheels? Ask her how many times she had to wipe your ass.

Be a proper son, and buy her an old Honda she can beat up till her hearts content. Call it a christmas present or somthing if you like. Then go and pay to fix your wheels.

If this woman still cooks you meals, you have no business even asking this question.

!Aznboi128 09-10-2009 08:18 AM

^ exactly

you should give it up
rims are rims whatever my mom crashed my car that I payed for.

buy your self another self of rims, then go buy your mom a used car.
and your an idiot for even posting this, respect your mom, she gave you more then just a coupe fancy penny's to help you buy that fancy AMG merc.

be a son, not an ass

i love my mom to death and do anything i can to make her happy, but the one thing i absolutely will not do, is let her drive my car. i just simply will not let it happen, i dont have a problem taking her places that she needs to go. the only person i allow to drive it inside my family is my dad. the only time a woman gets to drive my car is when im drunk, other then that? no dice. also unlike the op, every dime that was put into my car, was mine, no parents help.

shenmecar 09-10-2009 08:39 AM

Forgive your mom and buy her a beater.

If your mom drives only once a month, then she is obviously not as alert and skilled as you are. Parking a car comes with experience, I remembered the first week I got my license, I parallel parked the passenger rear wheel on top of the curb. O.o

If you do buy her a beater, and you go out with her to places often, you should let HER drive. You can maybe give some pointers. Hell even if you decide to fix your rims instead, you should still let her drive your car more than once a month.

TRD Rs200 09-10-2009 08:40 AM

Dude shes your mom... are you kidding me. she paid for your food, education and other countless things when you were young.... and now ur being a drama queen just because she scratched your rims. OMG grow up. fix it or get a new set of rims. and DONT ask your mom to pay for it either. shes paid for enough things earlier in your life. Suck it up and move on. My mom has even fked up my front end before. I was only mad for 3 mins, in the end i paid for the damage and got a new front lip!

I choose option A and only option A

taylor192 09-10-2009 08:46 AM

Dude, I know you're picky, from the conversation we had about jacks and jack stands possible scratching your underbody panels and diff, yet this verges on obsession.

slammer treats his car like a plastic wrapped couch, it has to stay in perfect new condition. I'm surprised he even drives the car, it might get paint chipped. :p

Get NuBrite to refinish the wheel:
- if there is a difference in paint colour, you'll hardly notice it. When was the last time your front wheel was directly beside your rear wheel?
- most of these places do fantastic jobs repainting wheels, thick durable paint. I'm going to repaint mine this winter.
- MB wheels aren't coated in some magic brake dust resistant paint. The difference you're seeing is OEM wheels versus cheap replica wheels. My cheap replica wheels are magnets for brake dust cause the paint chipped easily.
- there's nothing special about authentic AMG rims other than they are heavy and overpriced for what you get.

shantz 09-10-2009 08:47 AM

C - Nubrite is pretty reasonable - I use them quite regularly for a lot of insurance claim work.

I would probably just worry about the one wheel - just be specific when you drop it off that if it doesn't match you will ask them to repaint the wheel again. If it matches then you're set. If not, they should be responsible to repaint the wheel and do a better job of the color.

cobra_commander 09-10-2009 08:47 AM

DUDE! ITS YOUR MOM! she cleand your ass when you was little, she stuff your mouth with food for years. i think a damage wheel can be forgiven.

Presto 09-10-2009 09:43 AM

I certainly fucked up my parents' cars enough and caused them grief on many many occasions. I think the least I could do was to let the rims go, and buy her her own car to fuck up. Of course, my mom isn't the OPs mom, so I'm not worried about damage. She is maxed out on ICBC's claim rated scale (level -20).
