| Police, domestic disturbance, 6 shotsish, man dead Quote:
VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - Vancouver Police have shot and killed a man after being called to a domestic disturbance in an apartment at 10th Avenue and Birch Street, near Granville and Broadway. Police responded to a 911 call from the apartment at about 930 p.m. Friday. They initially tasered the man before shooting him.
James was a witness to the incident and tells News1130 when officers arrived they broke a window on the ground floor apartment suite to gain entrance. "He said 'Drop the knife, drop the knife,' and then shot him, I think about six times."
James says neighbours say the couple fought all the time and they had heard screaming right before the shooting. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has now taken over the case. Keep it here to News1130 for the very latest.

| So my question is what happen between the last request to drop the knife and firing 6 shots and killing the suspect? Did the suspect try to attack the cop or was he still holding onto the knife and the cop just decided to shooting him?

Since it's a domestic disturbance call, it could be that the guy was still going after his wife/gf with a knife after being verbally warned by the police to drop the knife.

Lol. Cops usually yell out for someone to drop a weapon so they can later justify their shooting. Who cares tho, in this case the guy prob deserved it

what i dont get is if they used a taser first, how does the witness account make sense
anyhow he must have been reallly mad or high to get tasered and still need 6 shots to get taken down
unless this is just a case of the cop getting trigger happy

And I suppose all of you above would stop and ask questions and try to figure out how to save a guy when he's charging you with a knife inside a house that you are not familiar with right?

There's not enough information released by the media to give us enough clues to come up with a verdict of what happened last night.
Anything beyond that is just pure speculation.
Like a poster mentioned, no one knows what happened during the time between the cop yelling at the suspect to drop his weapon to getting shot 6 times.

Of course, like you said, the stupid kids on here (and some adults) have a big hard-on for flaunting disregard for anything to do with authority and salivate over opportunities like this to show how tough they are on the internet.
Jay-Z said it best: "You know the type loud as a motor bike, but wouldn't bust a grape in a fruit fight".
BTW, I wouldn't take James account on the situation too seriously. He said " I think about six times" - which means he's not certain about the facts. More so, unless he saw 6 shots go through the person, it doesn't mean all 6 bullets went through the guy. It could've been 1 fatal shot. This is for the guys who are going to cry "excessive use of force" or some nonsense like that. I guess we'll see when more info is released.
More info: Quote:
Investigators were out in force Saturday after a man was shot by officers following an alleged domestic dispute in the upscale Vancouver neighbourhood of Kitsilano Friday night.
Vancouver police were called to a home in the 2500-block Birch Street around 9:30 p.m. last night. Operators at 911 reported hearing a woman screaming that her life was being threatened by a knife-wielding man.
When police arrived, they forced entry into the suite and confronted a man threatening a woman at knifepoint, said VPD spokeswoman Const. Jana McGuinness in a release.
Witnesses said they heard officers yelling "Drop the f---ing knife, drop the f---ing knife," before hearing four to five shots ring out. McGuinness said the officers fired a Taser as a first resort, but it "was ineffective. Officers drew their firearms and the man was fatally wounded," she said.
Neighbour Phil George said he's often heard angry, loud arguments from a couple in the building.
The police requested an investigation by the RCMP's Integrated Homicide Investigation Team, said McGuinness, "in the spirit of pending legislation that would make it routine protocol."

I guess we'll see when more info is released. | Its still a trained professional shooting a handgun from probably <20 yards away. 6 shots is still alot for something like that for even just one to hit. What about his wife or others he may have had in the house? Either the cop cant shoot or the guy was just Tony Montana. But who knows, maybe the guy was charging towards the cop and he needed six shots.

Trigger happy?
Each cop shot once.. 6 x 1 = 6
Is it me, or does the first pic look like cops in a fun house, with walls of mirrors? |

well, cops are trained the same way, so im guessing the guy holding the knife made a move that gave the green light for cops to shoot in a situation like that; so all of them shot. they are not gona be like " ill shoot him so dont shoot him guys."

They tried using the taser, but it takes a lot of hits to make them lethal.
