i think the engine breaking assist thing is when you break (in DSG only) when it down shifts the car will have a slight jerk? iono maybe its that...or the thing where the car will break itself in an uphill incline?

all mkv GTI DSG comes with launch control...you just know how to engage it.
put your car in S or DSG...turn off ESP...engage brakes fully (push it all the way) and rev your car...it will stop at 3000 and then let go of the brakes...theoretically your tires shouldnt skid
mine did not come with a 300w upgrade

i have no leather so mine lumbar is manual

i'm not sure about the braking assist... if that is downshifting like you are saying, then any automatic trans would be the same?

someone offsite told me that the launch control was removed after 2008... i can't confirm. my 07 has instructions on how to use it in the owner's manual... does your 09 have it?

if it takes u one block to get up to 80kmh, there is something wrong with your car.....check under the hood and make sure u have a turbo.

ofourse launch control is only on DSG, how are u gonna use launch control on a manual?

maybe this 300w setup is the "premium" upgrade i see others writing about on the vw boards... apparently it costs a lot and it's absolute crap. better off going with aftermarket, unless they've changed it.

i have rns-510 navi unit with the HDD so i'm good in that department... i just need to work on the rest when i have $$$ again.

i have a 3dr. mods? um... well it's not stock. search around here you'll see it (covered in blue tape)

all these acronyms confuse the hell out of me... i'm going to have to start carrying a cheat sheet or something in my wallet soon

wow.... those seats are nasty...
The interior is fine as it is. But those picnic seats have to go...
I hope it's just some funky package.

anyone interested in taking a peek at a 2010 gti clarkdale has one in white.

interior looks nicer than my mk5.... wheels however look like cheap crap with the black highlights (mine are grey). at least they got rid of the off road look (lowered ride height)...

The 300W upgrade is the Dynaudio system, and have been available on the GTI/Jetta/EOS/Tiguan since its debut in the US. Us canadians got shafted, and did not see this being available until 2010 when the Tech package was added (Satnav + Dynaudio).

I'm in town today, so I'll definately stop by to test drive the GTI. I've only driven the MK6Tdi and was super impressed with how quiet it was inside! The diesel engine sounded like a slow reving 1.8T, and the torque was pretty insane.
As always, us Canadians get shafted in that you can't get the AFS HID headlights, or the Satnav (RNS510) +dynaudio here.. :S

Saw it last week, finally realized it's got dual side exhaust! now it doesn't look identical to the 2.5 anymore! their's had cloth seatsand 6 spd though so I don't know why it was so expensive.

Don't know why people are complaining about the seats. The interlagos interior is a signature of the GTI, much like the Huf rims or the red trim around the front grill. A proper GTI should have the interlagos seats and not leather, just like how a Ferrari should be red and not blue.

ppl are complaining because the shape of the interlago seats is different than the leather which offers a lot more support from the side boosters. In europe and asia, the shape and design of the cloth seats is the exact same as the leather.

on a side note... they really went cheap on the headlights. my mk5 headlights have all the fancy bezels and internal detailing, but the mk6... not much of anything

with the exception of the mazda, i wouldnt agree that those cars have nicer interiors.
if you take a good look at a genesis or mustangs interior, you'll quickly notice the use of cheap plastics. you wont find that on a european car!

i've been in the new mustang so i can agree with you on that point... they really cleaned up the design, but why so much hard plastic?

I just came back from Clarkdale, and the Mk6 DOES have the option for getting the Technology package which is Dynaudio + Navi. The AFS HID system comes stock on all 2010's I believe, according to the website and the brochure. Will confirm once I have the car actually in my possession. Launch control is still there... salesperson told me to activate it on Cambie and King Ed after the light turned green and I did...

I fell in love with the car once I sat in it. The interior quality is just incredible... light-years ahead of any Japanese/Korean/American car of comparable price! Cross-shopped with the Lancer Ralliart, and definitely no comparison there. The Ralliart is sportier but the GTI is more livable day to day.

Bought the black 2010 Mk6 5-door at Clarkdale on the spot, has the Luxury Package inside which was pretty much all I wanted. Nice, supportive leather seats that smell sooo good. The new touchscreen head unit is SICK.

Monday... I can't wait for Monday!

Yes. Mine now!

Only had something like 90kms on the odo when I test drove it... added 20kms to that.

Your wording has me suspicious. 0_o;; Is there anything I should watch out for?
