....? there is no scirocco R in north america and the R32 was replaced by the gti-r (r20).

too_slow 12-08-2009 06:46 AM

The official name is Golf R, and he's in HK :P (I think)

I think $450K HKD is 135i territory (surprised to see quite a few in HK as well)

.Renn.Sport 12-08-2009 09:37 AM

the chinese build MK6 GTI will be priced at 200-240k RMB... which is quite a bit cheaper then the HK model. same spec and equipment as the euro model.

the GTI is 310k in HK, I won't be surprise if it have a 150k premium over it for the Golf R

my bad :o

too_slow 12-08-2009 11:00 AM

200-240k$RMB is still $30k+ CDN..

I'm glad we get the German goodness @ bargain prices :D Now if only the North American VW operations can remove the notion that VW buyers here can only see in 16 colours (i.e. offer more colours on the GTI)

skyxx 12-08-2009 12:38 PM

^ We get that cause we get stripped off a lot of features/options/paint. :( Everything has a price. sigh

We get an eLSD... same as BMW, computer uses brakes to mimic LSD.

Performance difference... nope. :haha:

!Yaminashi 12-08-2009 10:18 PM

Saw a white one that was heading into port moody today, and I've gotta say they look NICE. I'd go as far to say they look better than the mk5, but thats just my opinion.

skyxx 12-09-2009 12:24 AM

^ They do. not just you. :)

gnat. 12-09-2009 08:57 PM

^^ agreed!
I was wondering... Why is it that people seem to purchase gti's from clarkdale more so than other vw dealerships? This is probably a stupid question but I'm not familiar with vw's. Any input would be awesome!

Clarkdale = awesome customer service. Probably more knowledgeable than other dealerships too, haha. Plus, who doesn't love salespeople who tell you how to activate Launch Control and even tell you to do it on Cambie and King Ed stoplight.

Plus, they are official APR dealer (for go-fast goodies) and accomodating to modders. If you go to GolfMkV forum, you will find that all the local GTI owners go to Clarkdale for service/parts due to Kendall and Andrew, who are awesome people.

!Aznboi128 12-09-2009 11:06 PM

so... after 5 pages who wants a mk6? I know i do

cctw 12-09-2009 11:14 PM

i think matte black would look better...but how much would it be to get the whole car done?

XtC-604 12-09-2009 11:26 PM

WHY ARE VDUBS SO UGLY. DAMMIT USE AUDI STYLE FOR ONCE PLEASE.

gnat. 12-09-2009 11:42 PM

^ if you don't like vw's why even come into this thread? fail much?

So I was test-driving the car with my dad and the salesperson inside right, and we're stopped at King Ed and Cambie stoplight headed north. I'm 3 cars behind the line... and the guy says:

"You know GTI has Launch Control right?"

I reply yes, I do know that.

And then he tells me to activate it. Shift into manual, ESP off, foot on brake, full gas. I did... waited for the cars ahead to have a significant gap and I launched it for 20 ft before I shut it down. :haha:

gnat. 12-10-2009 02:03 AM

^^ I think everyone hates paint chips. Do they have any protective films or whatever!? Besides matte paint...?

^ haha wow! So you tested the dsg, I'm assuming...or not? Did you get it? I test drove the manual! It was surprisingly smooth...many people say it's not as great but I thought it was pretty awesome! And the interior just looked amazing!!!

I want to look into clear-bra films, but $$. :(

Yes, tested the DSG - only DSG have launch control. Very smooth, very well riding car. The interior is probably my favorite part. Very well laid out, great ergonomics and so beautiful!

Bought it that very day/night, picked it up 2 days after. :haha: See my pics this page and last page!

gnat. 12-10-2009 12:59 PM

hahaha so nice. how much do the films cost?!?

rofl so quick. i think i would have to pre-order mine.
ugh want it now! i don't think i'd be able to deal without a standard transmission! :haha:
