Can I park there!?

Ok, so in the picture, where the blue Yaris is parking, is where I usually park when I go to my girlfriend's house. However, I have gotten a note recently (not the 1st time) under my windshield wiper that says: "Do not park here. You will be towed next time". I am confused as I have no idea why I can not park there:

-Space is more than enough for my car to fit in so I don't block any driveway.
-No yellow line on the curb to indicate a no-parking zone (like shown across the street in the picture).
-No fire hydrant.

The ONLY possibility I can think of is that it is facing the entrance of another complex shown in the picture to the right (Note: it's a complex, not a road, so it's technically a unit on this street).

What do you guys think? Am I really parking in a no-parking zone across a complex's entrance, or maybe one of the house owners wants to keep that space to himself?

Which municipality do you live in? Look up your local bylaws and see, I think the only one that concerns you is proximity to driveway of private property. If there's nothing there about that I think that spot is legit.

Seeing as there is a Blue Yaris there, I'm going to guess that is where they park all the time. And whenever you are visiting your gf, you are taking their spot. Though not illegal, they just don't want you in "their" spot. They probably will bs something to get you towed.

Where exactly is your gfs house, the driveway directly behind the Yaris? Or the next house over, where you are taking the picture from.

In either case it is probably what i guessed, and that you are taking "their" spot.

Sounds like your neighbour being a fucking dick. Just like mines when I first moved in 3 months ago.

Put a note on my dad's car, telling him to not park in front of their house because they want the spot for themselves. Not like my dad parked there everyday. Sometimes ppl park in front of our house, so we park ahead one more spot. One day, those mudafuckahs will get it.

a) Douchebags think you are taking their spot.
b) Too close too the driveway. Seriously. If I was trying to pull out and turning left but couldn't see because a fucking Yaris was there, I'd be pissed too.

Park there again and see who keeps putting notes on your car.

When you see that person come out, you go out too and ask him what the problem is. Or if the tow actually comes, come out and ask the same question and who reported it.

Problem solved.

Wait... you've received MULTIPLE notes saying NEXT TIME you'll be towed? So when does NEXT TIME actually come?

I'm thinking never... if they COULD tow you, they would have done so already. Fact is, the neighbors CANNOT "have you towed". They can report you to the city, and the city can then have you ticketed and/or towed *IF* you're breaking parking bylaws... but the neighbors have no authority to call a tow truck for a car parked on the city streets.

Anyway, Gatorade has the best answer so far: check the bylaws for the municipality this is in. Most have time limits on non-resident parking, whether they're posted or not. For most Vancouver residential streets, for example, I believe it's a two or three hour max during weekday business hours if you don't live on that block.

In other words, if you're only staying for a couple hours, there's sweet-FA the neighbors can do about it.

Its legit. I don't see any reasons how that parking is illegal. I'd say I'd be worried about that asshole trashing your car out of frustration than him having your car towed. I don't think he can legally do the latter.

Well, he shouldn't be legally allowed to do the former either..

Leave a note on your windshield that says:

Get fucked, as long as it's legal I'll park where I want

PS: I know where you live

Yea, i'd be more wary of him f'xing with the car itself. Maybe point a camera in that direction at all times from your gf's house

I dont see a problem with you parking there. Most likely its just everyone said, some douche thinking that he owns that spot and is being a dick about it.

I'll bet its most likely just some douche that thinks its "his" spot.
One time I went out to North van for a family dinner. I was there for no more than 4 hours, on the way back home I see something flapping around under my wipers
so my dad grabs it and its a note saying:

"Where do you expect me to park?"

That's where you take a picture of yourself flipping him the bird, and caption it, "PARK HERE"... then leave that in his mailbox.

If you're at least 6 meters away from a driveway/intersection, you're allowed to park there. And if it's only a note from a neighbour, then it's not legit, because my neighbour thinks he owns the road too.
