We got a Dyson and we're not going back. Its one hell of a vacuum. It does an excellent job getting all sorts of particles out of our carpet and picks up cat hair EASILY. Not only that but its very easy to clean! The one that we have gathers all particles in a small bin that get forced together, therefore, no dust particles flying around when you open it. Dump the shit in the garbage and start vacuuming again.
No hassle buying new bags ever again.

that's like saying if you had a choice between a bmw and a ferrari.
obvs a bmw is a good car... but a ferrari is a ferrari..
The same with a hoover. I'm sure the hoover is great and for 1/6 of the price.
but i don't see how someone could like it more than a dyson.
I think the reviews ultimately come down to the cost.
Simply, the dyson costs too much. Therefore, for the cost/benefit the hoover vacuum wins?
But i cannot see someone liking a hoover over a dyson.

Hoover won | Exactly. Dyson is overpriced marketing hyped garbage for the $. They had an edge with the first product they built but the competition has since surpassed them. Hoover is a far better product for less $.

i dont like dyson and the bagless system cause I always find when you empty your bagless vac, lots of dust will fly back out.
We "invested" on a miele vacuum. it was almost the same price as dyson, but it offers 6 year warranty.. THe power is amazing, and the built quality is superb. we've been using it for 3 years now with no problem. http://www.miele.ca/miele/canada/vacuums/vac_main.asp
(on a side note, kinda *gay* for us revscene guys to be talking about vaccums lawlz)

obvs a bmw is a good car... but a ferrari is a ferrari.. | Actually, some of the Hoover models use the same cyclone technology as the Dysons, so they're on par performance-wise... so a better analogy might be the Dyson is to a Ferrari as a Hoover is to a GTR. I can't comment on other factors like build quality though.

^ Are Filter Queens that good?
The only thing I must say is that our has lasted us 20 years and counting. Never used any other major (other than those tiny ones) vacuums in the family.

Holy crapperz.
I'd never heard of the Filter Queen brand until this thread.
The website's products seem top end; I may have to buy one to test against the Dyson!
