and i don't get why is there a big fuss over whether u bought the car or your parents did isn't it pretty obvious that if that person is a student .. then its very unlikely he bought that car? i mean .. why u think there's Upass and discount bus fare for students ... its because their not suppose to have a lot of money ... i recall talking to my white friends ... and they ask me what i drive now .. i todl them i drive a Lexus IS250 now .. and they made a big fuss saying noooo thats ur parent's car ... you don't own a car ...I on the other hand bought a second hand mustang that i OWN... does it really that much to you whose name is on the insurance paper? its not like i'm flaunting to you that i'm better i'm just saying what i am currently driving if you wanna say: " yaa but u gotta share with your mom ... i don't" then suure i'll give you that ... becuz my parents did bought me the car and i wont say no if they took it out. |

Lets think about this, there have been many threads of people bashing other owners of parents buying them their car. In the end think about this... If your parents bought you a car would you take it? Dont even try to say NO... we know you will take it. |

its the people who have that sort of wealth, yet they rub it in everybody else's face who does not have equal wealth to them, and looks down on them like they're dirt. Those are the true SCUMBAGS in this world, cause they have SHIT FOR BRAINS, and are probably USELESS IF THEIR PARENTS AND MONEY DISAPPEARED don't you agree? |

I love this thread. I'm glad someone brought it up and we can all discuss about it. I drive a civic and always has been look down to. I used to have friends in high school that are rich when we had no cars. We're still friends until they all started getting m3s and porsches and what not. Now we don't talk much anymore because we have less in common. But again I could care less because much more stuff to worry about than driving nice cars and goes clubbing every weekend. |
Seriously, who ever make fun of people who got parents to buy them a nice cars are just out of jealousy and pathetic. All the parents want to make their children happy by providing what they think is the best for them. Some of them think buying a luxury car is safer for their children in case of accident. Don't blame the kid, blame your parents for not working hard and slacking off their entire life so they can't afford to buy you a luxury car. If your parents can afford you a brand new BMW for going to university I am sure you will just gladly accept it. Your self bought shit box doesn't run any faster or look any better than powered-by-parents Lambo LP560-4. You can start working hard and work yourself up and buy your sons or daughters some luxury cars so they wont be grow up as some pathetic kids who make fun of others because of jealousy. |

It's not so much whether or not someone got a car from their parents that irk me. Hell, my first 2 cars were bought by them (they definitely weren't sports cars but they moved from A to B). It's when someone's a dick about it that I would imagine most people start hating. Read: be appreciative and don't go around thinking you're better than those around you just because mommy and daddy have money. A good example is when a formerly good buddy who eats soft rice (ie married a loaded chick) told me my car was too slow and I should buy a new one like he just did. His wife's family bought him both their cars and their place, cash. At the time he stocked shelves at a drugstore (not in the pharmacy section ;)) for a living. Let's just say we're not so close anymore, and I have trouble taking him seriously these days. You get the idea. |

Sometimes I feel the ones who look down on others r doing that because they just can't find anything else to be proud of. I know for me, I stopped caring about who's car is nicer than who's after I get a gf. It just, u know, doesnt matter anymore. |

wow I have a friend at UBC whom he sweat talked his parents into buying a car because he didn't make it into res this year... They ended up buying him a brand new GTI, and he doesn't feel lucky.... He claims the real lucky ones are the ones driving m3's and other high end cars. He's now awaiting the new mercedes his dad promises him once he returns back to HK after he grads. |

If you come to think of it, not in every case parents tend to bring out 40gs straight up to pay for the whole car, in many cases parents are just leasing it or financing it. My parents bought me my first car , everything paid off but i didn't sweet talk them into buying it and i'm going to pay them back within time, i would feel so guilty if i crashed it. I don't look down on people who have shitty cars, they are just at a time in life where cars do not even matter as long as it gets you from point A to point B. You can not really judge someone's financial status by looking at their car, for example someone could be working at Starbucks and every pay cheque he/she makes could be go straight to the car and barely any left for living expenses. I actually know a lot of weathy people who don't buy flashy cars , not because they can't afford it, they only need a car to get from A to B. So don't be so quick to judge parents who buy their kids cars. |
