interesting to hear some of you local guys here taking big pay cuts
didnt really realize it was coming to things like that for local companies

As someone on pension now, who works 1 full time job and one part time job to restore my previous level of income, I can appreciate his viewpoint. He should be looking for extra income to replace what he lost, if he wants that money again. These days there is no guarantee of employment anymore. If you want the mising money, go work for it instead of complaining to the media. Working gets you money much quicker than whining.
