Abbotsford police have launched an investigation into two of their own after a takedown of alleged drug dealers.

On Oct. 9, the two officers were finishing a foot patrol in Ravine Park when they spotted a man pacing in front of a house in the 2500-block Bourquin Crescent East.

They watched as a vehicle with two men pulled up and a drug deal took place, police say. Outnumbered and without a patrol car, the officers arrested the three men.

In a citizen-filmed video of the arrests, one officer is seen kicking a suspect in the side. The other officer is later seen walking on the back of the man’s legs.

A week after the incident, one of the officers involved in the arrest stumbled across the video on YouTube and brought it to his supervisor’s attention.

Chief Const. Bob Rich directed the department’s Professional Standards Section to bring the matter to the attention of the Office of the Public Complaints Commissioner to review the use of force.

shenmecar 10-21-2009 08:46 PM

police brutality at its best.

Gh0stRider 10-21-2009 08:48 PM

lol kick to the head.

TRDood 10-21-2009 08:51 PM

the kickings are justified.
but the walking on the man's leg?

he is down already, and the other cop is pointing a gun at him, where's the threat?

jeff_alexander 10-21-2009 08:53 PM

You know Western Society is fucked when people sympathize with the drug dealers instead of congratulating the cops.

I don't really have an issue with the foot to the head or the kick to the body as the suspect was ignoring orders to stay down and keep his head down. You can clearly see before the kick to the body, the suspects head raise and upper body start to raise, in that instance, I would think it looked to the officer that the subject wanted to get up. If you where the officer, would you take that chance with a subject you just saw observed completing a drug deal and not knowing if he had any weapons on him? I wouldn't.

The stepping on the legs, now that was a bit borderline IMO.

Also note, the subject in the brown jacket didn't get kicked or stepped on, because he listened to the officers orders and stayed completely still and didn't act like he was trying to get up.

XxFcukxX 10-21-2009 09:20 PM

i dont see any police brutality , all i see is drug dealers getting kicked in the head

Gh0stRider 10-21-2009 09:28 PM

obviously, they are just gonna get a slap on the wrist and get suspended WITH PAY, like always. Fucking Justice system!

Weak sauce. Guy moved so cop kicked him. Oooo big deal one little step on his leg. Didn't look very heavy either.

These dealers cause more damage to your neighborhoods by selling crack and people are complaining the cops are too rough during a take down? WTF

This is like china 24/7

CanadaGoose 10-21-2009 09:48 PM

What, do people seriously expect cops to be all nice and gentle or something? It's called Law enforcement for a reason

Too many hippies and crybabies these days, or maybe people are just naive. Welcome to the real world. If you don't like getting roughed up by cops, don't get caught.

x2, exactly what i wanted to say. this is a foot patrol, they're outnumbered, no back up, no squad car and this smart ass wants to squirm and look around like he's gonna run for it. hell yeah, kick him in the head. they might lose a few brain cells, but they won't move much more after that.

StylinRed 10-21-2009 10:00 PM

i actually didnt have a problem with this other than the cop walking on the guys legs

im going to assume the guy who kept moving was the one who was pacing in front of his house obviously itching for a hit

on a side note, was just driving home and there were 8 cop cars and an ambulance at the back of the mohawk gas station in maple ridge + a crowd of gangster wannabes, wonder if it'll be on the news

3seriesBeeM 10-21-2009 10:06 PM

I dont see brutality in this the stepping on the legs was a bit borderline. If you notice the other guy didnt get kicked because he was complying, the guy that got kicked was not complying with orders so he was trying to get him to comply. I dont know why people are bitching about this being brutality, you guys who are complaining are what makes up our justice system, people giving more rights to criminals than to the general public and police.

Didn't you want to become a cop?

OT, Abbotsford PD has some fine looking police cars. I like the LEDs right next to the rear center lamp.

At least the drug dealers didn't get a bullet in the head like in other parts of the world.

They should be glad they were ONLY kicked in the head and stepped on. Too bad with the way Canadian justice system is set up, these criminals will be back on the street before you can finish reading this sentence while all the hippies and crybabies blame cops for police brutality.

agreed. the guy didn't know how to listen. what if the cop didn't keep him down and he made a run at the cop. we probably would have one dead guy and that would be worse, wouldn't it? if the guy listened in the first place like his buddy, nothing would've happened.

ws6ta 10-21-2009 11:53 PM

fuck that its police brutality. right now they are just SUSPECTS. they aren't charged, they haven't gone in front of a judge. let the jail be the punishment not the fucken pigs kicking the guy in the stomach and stepping on the guys legs. These cops obviously do not know how to behave in a normal setting like this where the suspects aren't even a threat. these are the same cops that would be trigger happy and shoot someone or really rip you a new asshole on the side of the road when you haven't done much. they are just angry!! fuck them they are supposed to enforce the law they aren't the fucken law. cops are cops because they are too stupid to be anything better then a cop.

mas604 10-21-2009 11:59 PM

well if they did listen they probably wouldn't get kicked...

LenovoTurbo 10-22-2009 12:02 AM

They deserved that for selling drugs and stuff so i wouldn't call it brutality. Its brutality when they don't deserve it.
For example, someone gets caught in a robbery of some sort. Of course everyone would want the cops stomping on the thieves head and walk over their legs and probably a few more times.
