i just set it to always show all icons and notifications in task bar... yeah it doesn't compress which sucks
it only compresses vertically.

actually, yeah, now that i see what u mean, pinning is quicklaunch. i just like having a double stacked taskbar, and having all my "pinned"/quick launch things on the top bar.
