EVERY country goes through that stage and the only difference is that China is going that stage after uprising of the internet; and apparently unreal SOBs as well.

everything is made in china now, but that doesnt mean we have to LIKE the products, it blows donkey balls but its cheap as hell to mass produce. What can you do...

Funny how you say this, yet in this post: http://www.revscene.net/forums/speak....html?t=593217

you claim to be an Alpine whore and love Alpine. You do know that Alpine is mostly manufactured in China and Malaysia while other brands such as JL Audio is made in USA. So why wouldn't you pick Alpine over JL when they are both near the same price?

Your logic is similar to your parents capability for raising a child, both fail.

dim_sum 10-27-2009 12:13 AM

didn't bother reading the whole thing but felt like i should respond to this post.

its not china that makes quality crap, its the businesses that decide they want to make shit cheaper. Why do think businesses move to china for manufacturing goods? to CUT COSTS. everybody business wants to cut costs. its not impossible to improve quality in manufacturing, it just depends on how muhc money you are willing to spend.

i've also read that some chinese factories factories are so specialized that companies would rather have them produced in china than else where.. cant remember where i read that though

We've come along way from what China was 50years ago.

Edit: Supports would be the search as rescue, mobilization of people out of the area, the temporary housing, supplies and staples for the victims, and the tireless effort from the military to find survivors.

Believe what you want.
But the response was not fast.
Are you saying they re-housed every citizen who lost a home?
Your completely wrong. I have friends that were in the centre of the earthquake. 1 father is in Shenzhen working at a bar cleaning washrooms to help support his wife and daughter back home. They have no home to go back to.

If you dont think theres homeless issues in Sichuan, then you are on crack. Or you're just talking out of your ass.

Temporary housing? They were living in tarps, millions displaced at the time and currently? Even in the winter they were still in tarps.

Why do people compare 50 years ago?
Fuck.. What was Vancouver 50 years ago? wtf....

You're ignorant post just annoys the fuck out of me.

You are right, the response in Sichuan could of been better, but no response can be perfect. For the money and the time, they did a pretty good job, better than Katrina.

Ok, you are a racist.

It's like saying i hate Africa and all things related to africa because i can't stand niggas.

You are giving the arguments that products from china are subpar standards compared to other places. Assuming that is 100% true all the time, you forgot the fact that ultimately it's the big corporations that made the decision of using cheap chinese labour and not doing full quality control on the made-in-china products that they are using.

Sorry we dont see eye-to-eye.
I compare to the past because China 50 years ago I can guarantee there was not as much attention and effort made. How many people do you want China to be able to rehouse, and buildings restored to be satisfied as "good effort"? Mind you that the earthquake was a year and a half ago rehousing a million people is a difficult task. Many of the survivors did not want to leave their home but stayed nearby because all they had was in ruins. Sorry again for my ignorant post that will annoy the f*ck out of you.

The school buildings built years ago that were declared to be "dangerous during an earthquake" did not collapse during the Sichuan earthquake; while newly built ones ALL collapsed.

People who lost their children in the collapsed school suspected that the quality of new school buildings wasn't up to par; but they were threatened by the local government to not pursue the investigations any further. The Central People's Government also chose to ignore the people's request.

Whatever nice things you saw they did on the news, were just a show.

Agreed. As I just read a news article about the stability of the buildings. Its viewed as a conspiracy (one child policy + collapse of schools).

Yc 10-27-2009 11:34 PM

can you define requests? like to what extend?

would you say we requesting to get rid of HST and the gov't still goes ahead and implements it a "gov't also chose to ignore the people's request" ? maybe this is a bad example but you get what i mean.

all gov't have flaws, look what the US did to the world, and especially to Iceland for the lack of regulations in the financial sector, how can these guys posssibily not know this will happen??

what i believe is with that much population, the current gov't is at its best for China to have. Maybe in 20 or 30 years, depending on the situtation, the gov't will change, but as for now, it has done good things, brought China out of poverty, put China on the map where no one really want to mess with them. (benefits is greater than the cost - all in relative terms)

yea, there are scarifices, and i am sorry, but thats the opportunity cost one must incur for the greater goods in the future. And of course, there are ppl who will bitch about it, b/c no one like changes, unless they are desperate or really really in trouble.

Yes, what some companies do are wrong, but do you really think they will last long? and China will continue the way things are? I am pretty damn sure they will get serious and start to crack down in corruptions. Have you read the recent News about China tackling down in Corrputions?

Sorry for the choice of word, I actually meant the parents pleading to the Central People's Government to launch an investigation. If the quake happened in BC and there's an alleged case of corruption in the municipal government involving building quality that results in multiple casualties, do you think that the local/provincial government could easily sweep the scandal under the rug?

Debatable, but ok.

Deng Xiaoping's theory of changing the revolution was to let a small group of people get rich first, then the wealth would spread around. Interesting theory, but A LOT of people are still living in poverty despite the Country's economic growth, and I will look forward to the day when I see a real prosperous country in every aspect.

No one dared to mess with China after WWII anyway.

Yet, it's the PRC government that refuses to change for the longest time. The people at the highest level of the government kept on making unlawful decisions and unlike the states, it will be never-ending as you can never vote them out, unless/until they die.

If you are interested in this topic, read the Prisoner of the State: The Secret Journal of Premier Zhao Ziyang. After the June 4th movement, Zhao was labeled as a sympathizer and a traitor to the revolution. Anyway, it's an intriguing read.

What are they going to crack down on when the corruption stems from the highest level of the government?

I used to think that the PRC government we see today, with Wen Jiabao as premier, would make some differences in China like you said; but when you see Premier Wen's wife shopping for jewelries that are worth over a million CDN when Wen's salary is merely in the thousands, you would choke on your words.

The media tried to question him on that incident, he refused to answer and they never tried asking again as the media in China (including some media in Hong Kong, sadly) have implemented self-censorship.

We dont need to see eye to eye.
You just need to do more research.

Also, your original post about "house every citizen, comparing homeless to to housing China citizens, other countries helping the rebuild of Sichuan" is a little off.

They are not housing every displaced person.
You cant even compare the homeless isues in China to Vancouver.
And..whatever countries are helping the rebuild of Sichaun should be shot.

I visit China twice a year for the past 4 years.
Its a beautiful country with allot of issues.
That picture of pollution in the water. Other than the few large developed cities, extreme water pollution is everywhere. Its disgusting and wrong. Iv even seen kids play around these areas.

happybunnie` 10-28-2009 09:01 AM

the don vally river in toronto used to be used to carry sewage straight into lake ontario ... kids used to play in that water too now we know better we just need to give china time to develop itself by educating the masses only then will anything relating to pollution change

when the people demand it and will not stand by and be exposed to the terrible chemicals that they have to ingest everyday

but thats not going to happen anytime soon cuz who wants to give up power

hi SlySi

Which part of China are you from? Just curious, but not to challenge anything. I'm from GongMoon in Gong Dong.

I have never, ever, seen anyone spell Jiangmen Guangdong the way you spell it. Is there a reason why you incorrectly spell the city and province you are from?

this will be in fc by next week, it's all the logical people pointing out how greedy, and money hungry china is. And its the China-lovers saying "You wong, you wong, China is best, look at fraiser river, it dirty too!"

Dentz 10-28-2009 12:03 PM

I more or less agree with AAnthony here, but then again I have nothing else to add to this argument.

Basically, this entire thread is a huge facepalm.
