I think seymour mostly appeal to people who are into parks, jibs and jumps.

I like jumps but yeah I agree, the craptastic lifts there make me rather go to other places, even if there are no good parks or jumps elsewhere.

I went up for a bit, visibility sucked, snow was deep but a little slow.

I left when it started dumping, my truck sucks in snow and I didn't want to get stuck up there.... or hit a snow bank

I went up from 10-4 today. The snow was awesome! There was lots of powder, especially in the morning. It wasn't extremely busy but there was limited visibility a lot of the time. It was snowing the whole time, and it was getting harder when i left.

Spectre, how is the driving road up there? does it look like I'll die without winter tires? (I know it's mandatory)

I wish it was open sooner than 10.

Just came back from whistler. I gotto whistler at around 8 to find a HUGE lineup for the village parking lot so we went up to the upper village lot by the excalibre gondola. As soon as we got there the lot was full 5 minutes later. To give you an idea of how bad it was. A friend of mine wasn't lucky enough to get a parking spot in any of the public lots so he paid 35$ to park somewhere around the village. Conditions were good until the fog rolled in. Visibilty was maybe 10-15meters. Also the mcdonalds in Squamish was packed at 730 when we left.

Check the website before going. It will tell you if winter tires and/or chains required.

I was on Grouse today, 10-4ish, skiing for the first time. My only other experience on skis were two occasions, a year apart each (12 and 13 years old) when I went Cross-Country skiing for 3 hours each time.

Needless to say, it looks like I suck at skiing, and it's definitely a workout learning how to ski, when you're so used to snowboarding!

Next time I go up, I think I may just take my snowboard instead of my skis. :/

^ how were the conditions? cause pre-olympics they were really crappy, as you can see all the bare patches on the cut. and many of the blue and black runs were closed.

I was at Cypress today, it says good winter tires or 4x4 is mandatory but there were many cars with all season tires up there. Only the roads at the top by the parking lots were not completely cleared of ice/snow.

And the conditions were amazing, I would say its the best snow of the year so far. If you want the soft powder stuff you will have to venture into the trees

Get there early if you don't want to walk 20 minutes from your car. I got there around 10:40 and was near the end of the 3rd lot

Conditions on Grouse were great. Only crap thing was visibility. As far as snow, it was pure powder, TONS of it, and still coming down heavily most of the day. Today should be the same in terms of snow/snowfall.

They've had over a meter of snow in the past week, and it definitely shows. All major runs are now open, including Paper Trail, Tyee Chute, Expo, etc. The major terrain park is not open, as of yet, and the upper portions of the blacks are also still closed. The lower portions of those runs by Olympic Chair are, however, open.
