I think the OP is gone, but seriously if it's only 2 years old just reformat, update drivers, unless something is physically broken.

UL20A! It's on sale now at Anitec so you can get it for about 670 compared to when I got it for $715 a few weeks ago.
It's super light (a little over 3 pounds), battery life lasts about average 5-6 hours, and is more than enough for what you'll be using it for. Stick a SSD in it, and watch it fly even better!

If you plan to do some light gaming then the asus you posted is complete junk, but for other tasks, it shouldn't be a problem.
But looking at the msi, it seems to be more well packaged together. As for reliability goes, I'm not quite sure on it. Posted via RS Mobile |

With that said, the MSI has a way better processor and its Mobility Radeon HD 4330 is multiple times better than the 4500MHD found in the ASUS.
For best bang for your buck, it's quite obvious which one you should buy. But as always before you make a big purchase, it's best to research tons!

But as always before you make a big purchase, it's best to research tons! | They replaced my battery 3 months after the 1 year battery waranty expired (the lady said on the phone that they were quite lenient with it actually, and then replaced my screen just before the 2 year warranty expired. Both times were quick as hell.
5 minutes hold time on Customer Service phone
Fedex came to my door with shipping label and packing box the next day
For the battery I think they sent out one before receiving mine, so within 2 days of calling customer support I got a new battery.
For my screen replacement, I told them I was going to Hong Kong 2 weeks later, and whabam they replaced it and it was back at my door in a week (5 working days). They didn't touch my HDD - everything was intact when I got it back both times (they did tell me to create an account with admin rights so they can do diagnostics though).
BEST. SERVICE. EVER.

Sounds about right from what I read over in Notebookreview.com.
There's also an authorized ASUS service center in Richmond run by compu2000. http://promos.asus.com/US/ASUS_NB_Wa...NSP/index.html

Thanks Razor Ramon HG! But I think i might go for the ASUS in terms of the customer satisfaction and it is my first laptop. Does anyone know why the ASUS at ncix has a T4300 processor and the one at Anitec has a T6600 processor? Only 3 dollars difference but same model. http://www.anitec.ca/product/625127/...-black-k70ijc1
Has anyone ordered from Anitec before?

Anitec is perfectly fine. Just walk into their store, tell the guy at the counter what you want, and he brings it out.
What are you aiming to do with your laptop though?

I'm not quite too sure actually because i was planning to build a new desktop but than my dad suggested it be better to get a laptop (could also bring to school) So I guess it might be my desktop replacement.
I'm probably going to use it for internet, msn, music, movies, and Office programs (word, excel etc). and Maybe some counter strike hahah

new NCIX Richmond aberdeen store kills the "you know what you want" shopping experience.
At the old Capstan store it was quick and dirty - you walk in, you come out with what you want and a yellow sheet of paper
At the new store - it feels like they tried to cram future shop into a tiny space.

walking space in the store is absolutely crammed

Are you set on the screen size of 17" ? You can always get a smaller and more portable laptop, and just plug a wireless keyboard/mouse combo and monitor into it at home.

So I think I will try and pick up the 15.6" ASUS at NCIX http://ncix.com/products/?sku=45689&...nufacture=ASUS
Or should I just instead wait until the new year?

If you don't need one at the moment, I highly recommend waiting until Boxing Day.
Usually there are great deals to be had, and if you don't mind lining up at some places, you could easily get a steal of a laptop.

Scottman / you gotta set up a price range for your new lap top.
However, if you are not playing games at all, net book can be a good option for you.
(if you want something portable) 10" is too small but you might want to consider the screen size 11" or 12"
But... do not buy ATOM processor that has N270 or Z520 something like these.
Those are slow even in XP.
And... yes like what ppl says dont get Acer product line. (this includes Gateway and E-Machines) Also no HP. Let them make money through printers.
Toshiba / Sony / Samsung / LG / Asus is considerable brand with good service.
