$200 HID installed ads on craigslist..any good?
 

noob here..I wanna get HID's for my 09 econo yaris

saw these ads on craigslist...

$200 installed is pretty reasonable...should i do it?
my car is still on warranty. Do they cut wires when they install it? is it possible to put it back to normal for warranty purposes?

should i invest more for better quality? i dont value my car too much since its only a yaris..i just want to see better at night on the highway etc

Aftermarket HID is illegal. If you want to see better at night get some better bulbs like GE Night Hawks from CT.

They *are* illegal, but $200 isn't a bad price to be honest. The kits cost about $100-120, then add in labour..

it's a 10 minute job to install HIDs.

if you know how to replace a lightbulb for your house, you know how to install HIDs

^ installing them on headlight should be pretty straight forward probably don't even need to drill any holes to mount just ziptie the ballast it to something.

installing hid for foglight can be more difficult for noob likely involving remove the bumper

All you do is plug the wires/mount the ballast and change the bulb and you're done. Shouldn't take more than 30min tops. HID Outlet from our sponsors was selling a BlueGem kit for $79.99.

Anybody remember that Eclypz guy when he asked about PnP HID kits? That guy, wow..complete opposite. People like that, you just can't reason with.

its worth it to get it professionally installed.

the yaris is not like the other cars which you plug and play and the lights would work.

it requires to disable the drl completly or get a relay to bypass the drl. If you just plug and play, the lights would flicker like crazy

anyone had theirs done from those people?

I need to do my angel eyes on my 09 328.

But whoever installed a set will tell you it's more than a 10 minutes job.
Where's the part that mention - drilling the right size for housing cover? inverted + and - so lights won't turn on? properly mount the ballast on front bumper ? ziptie it to the fender?

$50 a kit? Is that because you bought 8? :haha:

If you could, I would worry. If you could do it SAFELY in 10 mins I would hire you to do my installs.

To the OP, it comes down to the car, newer cars tend to be a lil trickier due to the DRL's. Some require a relay kit in order to prevent flickering.

$200 seems quite fair, but I would worry about warranty. The cheap HID kits are cheap for a reason, they'll work, but who knows how long. If you buy it from a reputable shop and they're gone within the next few months and your HID's die who's looking after it for you? I've had friends buy cheap kits and have it die 3 times within a year. I would probably recommend HID outlet if you're looking for HID's. They're credible and warranty is quick and easy. You might pay a little bit more, but at least you're covered for a year or whatever.

just get the ones from HID outlet. They are cheaper and you can get them installed at a place like soundworks or something for 45 bucks. I think thats what i paid long time ago when I had my first set of HID. Still cheaper then 200.

it's up to the owner to decide where to locate their ballast. and it also depends on the car.

yes, if your DRLs uses your low beams, you will need to relocate your DRLs to your fogs or highbeams (which is what i did.. 30% of the highbeam power). THAT job, takes a long time because you need to know what you are doing.

the easy way is to disable your DRL, which is just cutting the correct wire. you will need to research that on your echo forums.

The cheap ones that they sell are not that good, but you get what you pay for.

I've had bad experiences with their cheap hid kits.

Ive seen a few Yaris' around richmond with HID's and when combined with the housing meant for halogens...it is REALLLY bad for oncoming traffic. I mean some car's its tolerable..but the Yaris is extra bad.

theres also some noob that runs around richmond in a white 05-06 white RSX with HID's .....The MASSIVE OBNOXIOUS glare is just plain dangerous to oncoming traffic.

I think I've seen this faggot, he was behind me and I could not stand his glare. I had to pull over and let him pass me.

I think he has the type R spoiler on the back?
