You can have more players online through dedicated servers. Plus easier controls and if you have a laptop, you can play it pretty much anywhere...

^ gaming on laptop is fail...

You're forgetting the other prices that add up which is essential for PC gaming
- Ram ($60+)
- CPU ($140+)
- mobo possibly if imcompatibility issue is an concern ($100-200)

The average PC that "everyone already has" has inadequate memory and CPU power to run new games even if you slap in a $300+ card.

what you can't fail a mod? haha

Most of the people I know with consoles would need a whole new computer. Not many people run systems that are just a video card away from being a gaming machine. hell only about half of my friends (or less) have something with more than a single core processor and >1GB of RAM

Plus you have to consider location. a kb/m on the couch is useless, and with a console you can retain your current bigass TV/audio setup, a PC most likely is at a desk with a smaller screen and shittier speakers..

JKam 11-26-2009 07:18 PM

btw who has a desktop anymore besides hardcore gamers? I'm talking about desktops that all you need is a nice graphics card and boom, you have a gaming computer. Most people I know have a laptop and a shitty desktop

One of my desktops makes a good internet browser/SNES emulator/xvid player for my TV, the other makes a good fileserver.

Neither would make a good gaming PC, they're still from the AGP era.

My desktop is the same, runs SNES and N64 great, streams to the PS3's great but can't game for shit. Oddly it's backwards in that it has a pretty dece video card but everything else is shit (Sempron 3400+, 512MB RAM, 160GB HDD, GeForce 6600 [512MB]) :haha:

y are ppl constantly trying to replace pc gaming with a console? everyone owns a pc or two. some will have consoles. some can/cannot justify the $ invested in systems for the extra fps or detail. end of story.

Hondaracer 11-26-2009 10:50 PM

its pretty much under $1000 every 2-3 years for a brand new PC, less if your upgrading and smart with your research

thats cheaper than games, peripherals and a console

nns 11-26-2009 10:59 PM

OT, that Geby guy really has it in for you. Did you kill his dog or something?

underscore 11-26-2009 11:24 PM

lol apparently. I know he dissed the PS3 on a moot point so I dissed the 360's atrocious fail rate and wait times for repair on another forum. It's not my fault Microsoft has a useless design team.

Cman333 11-26-2009 11:26 PM

Fuckit. Buy all the consoles and a gaming PC and you have the best of all the worlds :)

Ulic Qel-Droma 11-27-2009 03:26 AM

a computer will always be better because it can be more than just a gaming device. and when it assumes the role of a gaming device, it can do it better.

lol or that.

SpuGen 11-27-2009 09:30 AM

My last PC was built 7 years ago for 700. Added a $120 video card half way 2 years in and it's lasted me until up about a month ago when the video card melted.
It would proably still be running, but instead I bought a new i7 rig that cost $1700 and should last just as long, and still be quick. 7 years of constant abuse, porn, over clocking, viruses, Diablo 2, CS etc. I should probably just find an old agp card and keep it running.

Consoles on the other hand.. I have a PS2 slim, and it's covered in dust in my closet. Other than the random times I play Gt4, it's useless and because of that I refuse to buy a new console.
Consoles are for Gran Turismo, RPGs and hack& slash games.. FPS games on a console is retarded. I blame Halo.

PCs are just way more versatile and I can upgrade it to make it go faster. Ever play DOTA/ HON/WOW? Can't do that with a console.

Me too :(
I have an Xbox that was turned on only twice this year. (only because Forza 3 came out)
A Wii that I have never turned on this year yet.
And a PS3 which i turn on once a week to play NHL10 for an hr.

The rest of the time, I'm gaming on my PC.

underscore 11-27-2009 04:11 PM

Why would you buy all 3 consoles when you clearly prefer PC gaming?

Haha. Yup!

At least the PC can watch and store porn/movies/tv shows, Surf websites/forums, socializing, along with the gaming aspect.

I love gaming but can never commit that much time to it. I'll go through spurts of gaming for a few days/weeks then completely stop for a month or two.

I could technically live without my xbox/ps3/wii.

I couldn't go without a PC.

There's alot of exclusives with each console. Sometimes people want to try them all.

I just got a used xbox recently for GTA:LC and Forza 3.

unit 11-27-2009 05:10 PM

console gaming is way better for sports games thats for sure.

try getting 4 of you in front of your computer monitor and playing nhl10! probably not gonna happen, and even if it does, very ghetto!

SkinnyPupp 11-27-2009 05:11 PM

I have all 3 consoles (except the XBOX is dead now) and I only use them when a) The game is not available for PC (or there is no English version available to me) or b) There's a game that my wife wants to enjoy with me. For instance, I won't be playing Dead Space on PC, since she is going to love that game. But I did play Dragon Age on PC. Well besides the fact that it's a PC game first and the port isn't so great, she wouldn't have enjoyed sitting there for 8 hours watching me tinker with party equipment :lol

120 inch HD screen projector 1080p, i7 setup with gtx275, 7.1 B&W's all around some games I use kb/mouse some xbox controllers. Computers are not limited to just monitors anymore and their not limited to do just one thing which is game for me im very picky when i comes to gaming consoles just dont cut it I cant handle the blurryness and jagged edges of everything its just too damn annoying. PC > consoles fo sho!!! Price and game selection thats another story...

One thing that almost made me buy a ps3 was MW2 for pc dropped split screen for spec ops, xbox controller support and vista droped 7.1. That was a big dissapointment for me but after going to my buddy's house and playing a few rounds of two player spec ops on his sony xbr4 there was just no comparison i'd rather play by myself with no sourround sound then deal with all the jagged edges and blurryness.

Iv stopped spending on PC equipment about 3 years ago.
Tired of buying 600 dollar video cards, operating systems, upgrades, more memory, the hunger for a bigger LCD screen, etc.etc.etc.. the list never ends...just so I can play the latest games.
When I played Battlefield or any first person games in the past. I needed my settings to be maxed. And I strived to get to there.
I hated consoles, I never understood why people played them. They could never be as quick as me with my mouse and keyboard, my graphics were always better than the consoles, the consoles were always the dumb down version of the game.

Well its all turning around now. PC games are being dumbed down. The market knows where the money is. I can use the joystick just as good as mice and keyboard now. And if I look at Modern Warefare 2. The graphics just look sick. And I dont have to worry about tweaking the graphics.

Still to this date.. I know Iv sacrificed quality of games for the sake of saving thousands of dollars.

Im now 100% PS3 and Xbox player now.
I dont want to boot up my Vista/ Windows operating system just to load a game. Nor do I want to see my game crash and boot me out.
I have a notebook that surfs the net for me.
I do miss the great graphic quality and definitely the keyboard, mouse combination, but I do believe I have played enough to use the xbox or PS3 josticks to beat the best of them now.

Im an avid gamer since the Atari days to the Commodore to the PC........

I NOW enjoy sitting on my couch, in front of my 47" tv, nice whisky on the coffee table.

I want to get off work, get on the couch, hit the PS3 button or Xbox button and boom... the console is on. No fiddling with a keyboard and mouse with start button to get to the game... and hopefully it doesnt crash.

On a side note to OP.
Iv never played Fallout 3 on PC. Nor have I seen it on the PC.
I am glad I never have. As far as Im concerned. Fallout on PS3 or Xbox is one of the best games I have ever played. I dont compare it to the PC. Nor do I need to. Its simply one of the greatest games ever made.
