turn on their high beams and get into accidents. I wonder if there's a correlation between the two? :rolleyes:

Yes, we all know its slightly harder to see the road at night during the last week of heavy downpour. The simple solution to the matter is, DRIVE SLOWER. In the condition it was in last night, I was even afraid to go 100kmh on Hwy 91. There were so much standing water on the road that I could feel the car starting to weave left and right. Having your high beams on WILL NOT stabilize your car any better. It WILL NOT enhance your ability to control your car if anything does happen. It WILL NOT make the rain stop. It WILL NOT make the water on the road in front of you evaporate any faster.

Do you high beaming nutjobs realize that you are actually blinding oncoming drivers, making it harder for them to see the road? They can only see just as well as you can see with low beams. Please do not be a selfish and inconsiderate hazard on the road!

To all RS'ers, please take a look at your cars today, make sure your high beams are not pushed on accidentally. Please also take a look at any other family member's cars too!

Another word of advice, if you have a burnt out headlight, replace the bulb ASAP. This is seriously a "NO SHIT SHERLOCK" advice but you will be surprised how many people would rather use their high beams than spend another 10 bux and 30 mins of their time changing a bulb (unless its HID, then its a little pricier). I have personally seen many many people driving with high beams on just because one of their low beam bulbs have burnt out.

I hate it when people drive with high-beams on and no low-beams. Or just the DRL's on. Or with BOTH the low-beam (HID, usually) and high-beams on.

Most of the time these aren't beat-to-crap cars, but high-end SUV/luxury car like Lexus and BMW. One of the cars that I noticed has the most occurence of this happening is the RX350...

And women drivers.

Seriously, learn how to use your car.

I've got a burned out headlight on the daily (happened about 2 days ago), but I can't replace it until payday. Instead, I'll run with my headlights/fogs on.



As for the weather, people are treating the rain like it's snow. Yesterday I was involved in nearly 3 accidents! Everywhere I went, I was cutoff by people unable to "see" the road.

yayyyyy the dash automatically lights up, sweet that means first stage and 2nd stage park light/headlight will automatically comes on itself.

also, having new tires with high tread or even snow tires will make you feel much safer

dump those bald tires and invest in a set of new tires

No, these are very new cars that I see doing it... I doubt the headlight "died."

The problem in this case is between the seat and the wheel. :D

What pisses me off is people in newer gen Honda's not turning on their lights when it's raining or getting dark. No taillights on at all lol. DRL are not going to cut it in this weather.

lol, i have a couple of instances where the guy behind my signaled to change lane but then turn on thei high beam at the same time. hahah, i was like WTF. Good thing I have auto-dim mirrors

but yea, learn what symbols on ur dashboard mean. My mom is guilty of that as well. One time I saw that her high beam was on & I asked her why she turned it on. She was like, "huh? what high beam? what?" hahahah

Can I add idiots with HIDs retrofitted into halogen headlamps to this list?

The halogen reflector/lens was not designed for HID and the beam pattern sucks, it can be blinding.

As for the high beam idiots worried about puddles - drive with 2 hands, then puddles won't rip your hands off the wheel and cause you to crash.

That is exactly why I think DRL should be changed. When I first got my car I made the same mistake so many times. The lights on your dash are on so you might not even totally realize that your lights actually arent on.

Noob question: When do you use High-beams?

Inclimate weather further exploits shitty drivers.

I have no problem driving in crap conditions. It's the people around me that put me on alert.

Empty road not lit by street lights.

When there are no other drivers in front of you, no drivers in the oncoming lane, and you feel that the lighting in the situation is inadequate.

For example, if you're going down Broadway St, there should be no need for high-beams. (But C-Lai still do it anyways... sigh)

For example, if you're going down Marine Drive towards UBC (UBC Highway) at say 10PM and you're in the part with no street lights, using high-beams is perfectly ok and actually recommended here. Make sure that there are no drivers in front of you, though, and when you see oncoming drivers turn off your high-beams.

Remember that snow/water reflect light. So there's no advantage in the rain or snow. Highbeams will actually impair vision.

i've noticed it's not just SUV's and c-lais. even people in cars like miatas and rx-7's with non-hid are using their high beams. it's fucking annoying!

also, i swear people drive faster when it rains. instead of slowing down people are switching lanes more dangerously (probably because of the lack of vision) and also speeding thru intersections. this, coupled with the fact that a large majority of people are still using all-season tires, is scary.
