I just picked one up. So easy. Makes for a great stocking stuffer.

Thought I'd pass it along, in spirit of the guy who posted the 50% Adidas sale a couple weeks back. Saved me a bundle!

InvisibleSoul 12-02-2009 09:22 PM

...? Where do you see $19.99? I see $40.

TekDragon 12-02-2009 09:23 PM

Is there a code or something for this? It's showing as $40 still during checkout.

LiquidTurbo 12-02-2009 09:27 PM

Try the link again! Enter your postal code.

twitchyzero 12-02-2009 09:28 PM

how long do the coupons usually last for?
feb/mar 2011?

LiquidTurbo 12-02-2009 09:29 PM

Till Nov 2010.

Originally these books were $50USD. $19.99 isn't bad with almost a year to use the coupons.

El Bastardo 12-02-2009 10:08 PM

Why would Vancouver entertainment books be in USD?

I guess it's because the company that actually creates these books for various cities operates in the US, and doesn't have a CDN branch?

Hey does that mean if we do a group buy, the more books we buy, the price per book will get closer to US$15? Or can you only get 2 for a total of $35?

entertainment is a US company.
these books are shipped from the states.

LiquidTurbo 12-02-2009 10:16 PM

Yeah, forgot to mention it's in USD. Still, cheaper than anything local and our dollar is doing better these days.

Technically the more you buy, the more the price averages out to $15/book.

Ludepower 12-02-2009 10:45 PM

what are the savings like?

LiquidTurbo 12-02-2009 10:49 PM

Almost all are buy one get one free entree, at restaurants. Then there's the other coupons for things like movies, groceries, attractions. They're also mostly buy one get one free too.

It's pretty good if you have sig other. Basically you can eat out for half the price.

El Bastardo 12-02-2009 10:50 PM

I honestly have never have found any use for any of the coupons in these books. they're more an advertising medium for restaurants and beauty salons who give mild discounts on their products. If you like being downtown alot and feel like eating there for every meal they might be right for you.

It depends. For one person, the book isn't much use, since most of the coupons are buy one get free. Who's going to eat two entrees by themselves.

vancouverdc4 12-02-2009 11:24 PM

i ordered 3 and hope to give 2 for gifts....do you think those ppl will be able to activate their books online? or do i technically own all 3 books?

I activated online someone elses book last year as my own, so I don't think it's a problem.

krazynuck 12-02-2009 11:53 PM

if i remember correctly the regular price of the vancouver book was the most expensive out of all the cities...i think the book here is also the biggest...

not sure what this has in it but normally i use the Burger King, famous players, safeway, nando's, A&W and a few others and it pays for its self...a lot of the rest is crap though...

Fox1096 12-03-2009 07:23 AM

I just placed an ordered and phoned to confirm payment when they advised, because we live in Canada, we may get the arrival of the books a few days AFTER Christmas is over.

shenmecar 12-03-2009 07:30 AM

It still shows as $40?

StylinRed 12-03-2009 07:52 AM

cool, shows as $19.99 fer me

i dont use the book but my cousin goes through every coupon in it lol

question though, are the coupons based on the cit your in? or does the book come with coupons for the whole area of vancouver?

i ask this because in the "preview window" the coupons are Very localized and i dont want to get one for maple ridge if he's going to have to come out from dt to use it

shenmecar 12-03-2009 07:53 AM

Wait nvm, it shows at 19.99 now. weird.....

If you don't go out to eat very much, then yeah this book isn't for you. But if you're gonna go out to spend money anyway, it doesn't take long before you break even, at the very least.

As an example, last year I got one for around $15. I had plans on going to the Vancouver Aquarium with my wife and kid (he was free). The coupon was buy 1 get 1 free admission - and an adult admission is $22! Boom - saved $7 right there. Then I went to the Cannery and got a free entree... etc.

TOS'd 12-03-2009 08:52 AM

^ Yea, basically if you were already planning to go to some fancy restaurant in the future. At $50 a book, getting one entree free, the book is already half paid for. Popular coupons would be the ones to places like Aquarium, Science World, Cap Suspension Bridge, Higher end restaurants, etc. Anywhere they can gouge tourists with high admission prices, lol.

We buy the book every year. Use like <5 coupons, but it still saves money. Then we just share the book with cousins and family.
