UN Gang leader Clayton Roueche sentenced to 30 years in prison

SEATTLE (NEWS1130) - UN Gang leader Clayton Roueche has been sentenced in Seattle to 30 years in prison on drug and money laundering charges.

The judge handed down exactly the sentence prosecutors were after, a length of time Roueche's lawyer calls 'excessive'. His lawyer wanted a 15 to 20 year sentence. The Seattle Times reports federal prosecutors called Roueche "an extraordinarily dangerous, remorseless defendant" in documents submitted before his in U.S. District Court.

Prosecutors say Roueche, 34, had been running a continent-wide drug ring, which brought marijuana south from B.C. and cash and cocaine up north. They are also confident Roueche's gang is responsible for a list of violent crimes.

Roueche's lawyer says Roueche has never been convicted of a serious crime and there's no evidence Roueche had anything to do with murders begin blamed on the UN Gang.

My friends brother who was part of this drug ring got sentenced over a year ago for his involvement,he is currently serving 15 years in a Utah prison.

InvisibleSoul 12-16-2009 08:41 PM

30 year sentence means he should be out in 10 years or so?

not in the US, they actually have a justice system unlike Canada's lackluster sentence's. Alot of people behind bars in the US are there for little crimes but at least when someone does get caught for something large they won't be out in 1/3 of there sentence like here.

Canada shares its flight manifests with the US for special occasions like this.

He went to Mexico for a buddy's wedding. Mexican boarder guards would not let him and but him on a plane that stopped in the US.

You never tell a judge or gaurd that,if you do,the judge will send you to a insane asylum and lock you up in a rubber room for the rest of your life and make you wear one of those cool white jackets that wrap your arms to your back.

good job at least the states know how to hand down sentences. If he were caught in Canada he would be out in 5 years

Does anyone actually believe the UN gang will cease to exist as a result of this conviction?

Hell no.

The problem isn't the gangs. The problem is government policy on marijuana.

Pretty sure someone has already taken his place in the gang.Long as there is money to be made, someone is willing to take his place.

The biggest problem is the relaxed laws in B.C if a person is caught with marijauna.People know they will get a slap on the wrist and no jail time if they get caught with it,so the rewards far exceed the punishment "if" they get caught.

MR_BIGGS 12-16-2009 11:08 PM

So he got an American sentence. Will the justice system here in Canada come down hard on the Bacon guy now that the US has somewhat set a standard?

lol 12-16-2009 11:19 PM

Its 2/3's in Canada not 1/3.

Not anytime soon anyways.

Some U.S states have a "3 stikes" rule, here in Canada, that rule does not exist.

agreed, the justice system seems to be quite leniant in Canada. Wasn't there a ecstacy bust not too long ago that resulted in 2 guys being freed as long as they dont go to any raves? what kinda bullcrap is that?
