when you're on redflagdeals, every day is like boxing day, you just have to be quick and lucky

Jsunu 12-22-2009 08:06 AM

Dam i hate going on redflags because I know I will save way more money by simply not visiting the site.

too_slow 12-22-2009 08:23 AM

^Agreed.

BTW the 1TB ex.hdd deal is as warm as it gets. Dell always have a deal with the IOMega (with seagate drives) for $79 (1TB)

Definitely some great deals on TVs but I'm gonna wait a few more months until I move to make a purchase.

On boxing day getting:
Halo 3 $20
Gears of War 2 $20
Dlink DIR-615 $40
American Psycho blu-ray $7
True Romance blue ray $7

Probably some other cheap blu rays. I'm a sucker for a bargain.

Walmart has some cheap Blu Rays. Their flyer is now on RFD.
- Dark Knight
- James Bond: Goldfinger
2 for $20.

Apparently Blockbuster Video (of all places) is blowing out Sony standalone Blu Ray players on Christmas Day for $99. The model is the current S360. These might be good if you're tired of using your PS3 for Blu Rays.

The deals for TV aren't that good, after doing research prior to buying mine this christmas, all the deal crashers or the ones up for sale are lukewarm.

The TVs are moslty older models(2years+) with clearout prices. pay another 200 bucks, get last years/this year's model and it will last you longer for living rooms or anything big. However, if it's for bedrooms and that nature, good deals.

XBR9 52 for 2499, thats the price regularly pre-boxing day.

MG1 12-22-2009 09:24 AM

Every god damn year, I forget to check out Mopac's Boxing day sale. I don't know why I miss it. I end up going to BB, Butcher Shop, and dumbass places like that, spend 10 hours, and come out disappointed......... then it's too late for Mopac once a year sale.

I hope Summit Tools has a good Boxing Day sale, too. Waiting for all the flyers to show up.

BTW, I'm looking for a 1T (or larger) Western Digital external hard drive. Hopefully under 100 bucks. Gotta store my porn somewhere, LOL.

spoon.ek9 12-22-2009 09:28 AM

^ lol, i could really use the 1tb ext hdd. considering thats more storage than all of my computers + spare hdd's + usb drives combined, a "luke warm" $80 deal is worth it to me.

bartone 12-22-2009 09:30 AM

do you guys know if snowboard shops like comor have good deals on boxing day?

Boxing Day has always been about clearouts of old stock. I'm going off on a tangent, but are people really replacing their HDTVs every 2-3 years? I can understand moving from DLP/LCD projection to flat-panel tech, but why would you replace your flat-panel set with another (unless it's for a signifcant upgrade in size?) My Panasonic 42" that I bought at the end of 2006 is still alive and kicking.

Anyway, Visions still needs to release their flyer. They seem to have taken A&B's role of offering ridiculous door crashers.

Gt-R R34 12-22-2009 09:50 AM

look at the people in this forum! lol they're replacing 46's for 52"s from 2-3 years ago, so i see people replacing tv. 2-3 years, that and previously plasma and burn marks and all those fun stuff.

But i'm just saying with the tech upgrades in TVs that you would never see back in the day with the CRTs/Trinitrons. Those older 2-3 year models vs latests and the savings acutally make a lot of sense.

When TV's improve exponentially as they are right now, i say it's just makes better lifetime of the tv sense to pay 200-300 more for a updated model if the tech is better.

Vs these boxing day deals (that some are very lukewarm on.).

But as i said before if they are for bedrooms and non-living rooms. I say they are good deals.

I've suffered some image retention on my plasma, but it eventually goes away. Burn-in shouldn't be an issue for the average issue, unless your set has never been calibrated or you're gaming on it 10+ hours a day.

The 720P vs. 1080P debate is irrelevant too unless you're talking about large screen sizes. I guess my point is that if people bought a good set (Panasonic or Pioneer), then it should have lasted for several years. I paid close to $2000 for my set 3 years ago and I figure that I should get at least another 5 years out of it.

tiger_handheld 12-22-2009 10:30 AM

im getting a price match for my MS 300 mouse. i paid 29.99 its on sale for 14.99 :)... thats all.

twitchyzero 12-22-2009 11:26 AM

i've price matched a $599 TV from FS i bought on Dec 1 2007, and it dropped to $399 on boxing day. When i got it on the 1st , the rep said i can get it adj'ed if price goes down, all i had to do was bring the receipt. i got him to sign off on a paper saying i was allowed to do that cuz i've been jewed before. walked into FS on teh 26 around 2pm - said i wanted a price match - lady gave me flack - said i want to talk to the mgr - mgr said NO - they were sold out .. showed him the signed paper by his employee , he called up the employee and confirmed . n got $200 refunded to my visa :).

their policy is that: if u have teh actual product on hand , they will adj the price on boxing day provided u have the receipt.

i bought it from BB. you can price match as long as you have the identical product in had with the orignal purchase recipt. its a mouse - so its not like they are gonna run out.

You got lucky then because they outright refused to price matched the item i had a few years ago. They went so far as to close the return/customer service during dec 26/27 so that no price match was to be conducted. It wouldn't hurt to at least try.

Mugen EvOlutioN 12-22-2009 01:23 PM

another reason why im gonna be broke lol

every christmas..

It's a big YMMV since it states clearly on the website

If anyone sees a great deal on 23-24" 1080p monitors please PM me, ~$200.

BB/FS has 1 good deal each, yet they are subpar monitors. I can get better for regular price on TigerDirect.

Wow that's a load of bullshit. I remember I was in the store looking at TVs and mentioned that I may buy something during the boxing day sale and they were like "well we price match to January 3rd so it makes more sense to get it now while we have stock". Haha, glad I didn't buy anything. I hate futureshop.
