Crosby Nash Iginla
heatley Thornton marleau
getzlaf toews staal
4th line is a total tossup, who knows if it's st.Louis, smyth, doan, lecavlier, Richards
IMO those first 3 lines I made all those players are locks
on D
neidermeyer pronger
Boyle weber
phaneuf bowmeester (only one may make it I think)
then toss in Keith, green,
IMO green isn't an Olympic dman, his stats are better then he actually is and I'm still not sold on him
goalies have been set for a while, Luongo, Bro, fluery
with Lu getting the start Posted via RS Mobile |

my predictions
Iginla Crosby Nash
Heatley Getzlaf Perry
Stall Thornton St. Louis
Marleau Richards Morrow
imo, my questionables are Stall and St. Louis, i'm hoping they are selected. They are big time international tournament players, both are two way players, they always show up on the big stage.
Bouwmeester, Keith
Pronger, Niedermayer
Weber, Seabrook
Brodeur, Luongo, Fluery
taxi squad - Doughty, Stamkos
predicting finals Canada vs Russia, should be epic.

There are no taxi squads for this year's olympics. Players can be replaced if they're injured from Dec 31st until the eve of the tournament though.
Here are my lines and players that I think will make the squad.
Goalies
Martin Brodeur, Roberto Luongo, Marc-Andre Fleury
Defence
Scott Niedermayer, Chris Pronger
Duncan Keith, Brent Seabrook
Shea Weber, Drew Doughty
Injured replacements: Dan Boyle/Robyn Regehr
I don’t think Mike Green will make the team because his D game is fairly weak compared to the rest of the group. With all the firepower that the Canadian team has I think having Green come in would be a bad move since he is a defensive liability compared to the rest of the D core.
I can see Doughty getting swapped out with either Boyle or Regehr depending on how Stevie Y wants his team. Personally I think this season has shown that Doughty is ready.
Forwards
Iginla, Crosby, Nash
Perry, Getzlaf, Stamkos
Heatley, Thornton, Marleau
Doan, Richards, Morrow
Injured replacements: Jonathan Toews, Martin St. Louis
I chose Stamkos for the Perry/Getzlaf line because those two big guys will free up the space necessary for Stamkos to be effective with his shot.
3rd line is pretty self explanatory considering they play on the same team so chemistry shouldn’t be an issue.
4th line would be an awesome grinding line with all 3 players capable of playing an excellent 2 way game.
Sucks that Marc Savard got injured...was hoping he'd make the squad since he has been consistently under-rated for the past few years.

the womens hockey team was already announced therefore no predictions necessary.
which only leaves the mens olympic team.

my team i posted in the Canucks thread..but here it is again
Brodeur backed by Luongo and Fluery in the box
Brodeur as i said before, has the puck handling ability that no other goalie in the tournament has and therefore will start. Since him and Luongo are studs in net
Iginla Crosby Nash
Perry Getzlaf Stamkos
Heatley Thornton Marleau
Doan Richards Morrow
St. Louis or Eric Staal as the 13th man
Yea..Eric Staal has been terrible as of late, but he can be a very effective hockey player when called upon. aside from the grind line, the top line is VERY CAPABLE of being defensively responsible as well. as i said before, scoring 46goals doesnt mean your a great selection on this squad. You gotta have more than jsut the scoring element in your game.
Sadly, its not Jordan Staal's time to shine yet, but he would make a great addition to a PK unit.
Neidermyer Boyle
Pronger Weber
Keith Seabrook
Doughty as the 7th
my thots are like CH28, Mike Green is offensively strong, but not your typical two way defensemen that we see picked on my squad. Doughty plays like he's been in the league as a vet and can swap in and out with seabrook when needed. JayBo could come in handy too, yea he might not be having a great year, but hes been solid the last time out in Torino and was one of the better players that time.
Team Canada has some decent guns, but comparing our team to the so far announced squad, Canada can play a more shutdown game and limit the scoring of the opposition rather than trying to out score opponents.
The thing is to, Joe Thornton HAS TO SKATE. he's been hurting the poolies in December with his lack of skating effort on the rush. He's getting the points, but I can almost say for sure if he's willing to skate more, he would have more and Heatley could then score more. There are parts of Big Joe's game that makes him a very effective center. It's rarely seen but when he feels like it, Big Joe can SHUT DOWN opposition when called upon. We just havent really seen that the past 2-3 seasons.
Stamkos wasn't invited, but he's like Crosby, has excellent vision for the game and can get to spots to be effective. Its a gamble putting him on the wing, but if Getzlaf isnt ready to go, he can always slot to the middle and bump his TB linemate on the wing. The grit that Perry provides will help out both of these guys.
The big top line has the size to just BANG away with the checkers they will see every night. we are lookin at a line with all 3 forwards at 6'3ish in height and somewhere around the 220-245lbs range in weight. Its sad that Rick Nash sorta lost his stride as of late just like iggypop, but lets hope the intensity of Crosby will spark the wingers

I like all the lines but I would swap Seabrook with Mike Green...The guy has 36pts and is +16
While Seabrook has 16 pts and is +13..
So if they are basing this on the season so far then Green should get the nod.
And I don't think Doughty will make it..the guy is only 20yrs old and might be shaky on the big stage (olympics.)
who knows...we'll wait tomorrow..but until now, it's all speculations lol

^^ Ya Pepsi needs to GTFO! Coke FTW!
With the US Roster being revealed a while back and Canada to announce its roster tomorrow, I found it interesting that both have decided that only injuries will take people off the roster before the games start. Basically if someone goes on a tear, ripping it up in the next month in the NHL and was left off these rosters, they will not be added with someone else being removed who has gone cold. All other teams have said, the rosters announced initially may not be the rosters they keep come Olympic time.
