Sorry, all racial profiling does is breed hate and resentment from those groups you are trying to target. | That's why it's called war time. Not many folks this day ever acknowledged it was the right thing to do. But to prevent any atrocities made by Imperial Japanese Nationals living in North America, this was an option that the the US and Canadian Governments took. Was the internment camps wrong ? Hell yes. Were they effective in any uprising by the Japanese nationals living in North America ? Yes. Keep in mind that the Japanese easily invaded most of Asia during WW2 by having spies/soldiers living in the country they attacked for a few years before Germany/Japan/Italy started all that ruckus. Imagine waking up one day and seeing your Japanese neighbor going out of his house all of a sudden in a a rifle and and a foreign military uniform.
Right now, the US is at war. With Canada as an ally and as a country that mostly piggybacks on the success of the United States, will have similar policies implemented that will seem to most individuals as like you said "breed hate".

In addition, there's also a hassle to bring "illegitimate" items on board. Canada might be less likely to do this practice since Americans are still paranoid about 9/11.

Well on the news today the YVR head says that its only for people going to the USA and people will have a choice of being hand searched or step into the X-ray machine (which only emits 1/10,000 the radiation of a cell phone.. wtf?)
so im not really concerned
apparently Heathrow Airport in the UK did a 4 year study that concluded x-raying passengers is pointless

I believe what yvr has implemented is a fair compromise, as long as they pout safety of passengers above security. Posted via RS Mobile |
