Brokerage Companies?

I'm getting a shipment of stuff from the states, and apparently it's way too big for Fedex, etc.

It's just a big box of stuff, and I was told I need to self clear it?

Never done this sort of thing before. So...

Good brokerage companies?
How do I self clear it through Customs?
What's the average cost? / How do they calculate it etc

Thanks!

depending on what it is.. (what is it?)
it should be the same as if you brought anything else over.
your truck will be checked for sure.

they'll ask you to pay tax (hopefully not duty) and then check your truck.
if you can get it into a smaller flat bed or SUV then they probably won't check your vehicle and just charge you tax.

I've done self clearance before for my boss, you just goto the Customs office on the airport road with your receipt and list of goods and all original documents, where its coming from, the shipping order and stuff, there's a computer in the office, and you basically just punch in a bunch of stuff, follow instructions and hand in all your documents in a basket and wait for them to call you. It usually takes a few hours for them to process it if its not busy, then they call you and you come back and pay the fees.
You can find a brokerage company, but it can be easily done by yourself minus all the broker fees.

Whole bunch of car parts. Really big items.

Ugh. I'm gonna try and see how much brokerage fees are.
Then decide.

go check out customs canada by the airport on miller rd. In the blue buildings beside Cafe Runway.

you will need commercial invoice, packing list, cargo manifest
basically they want to know where its from, wheres it made, how much its worth, new or used. You can look up the rates in the Tariff book on the CBSA site and brokerage companies will want to see the HS code which is also in the book.

Most brokerage companies charge around $100 bucks, there are a couple on the same street...Alliance border services or Preferred something
