Or "show us your tits... for breast cancer awareness"... I mean, isn't that much more awareness-raising (among raising of other things) and much less annoying?
Or the guys should start posting detailed descriptions of their junk and call it testicular and prostate cancer awareness... "shrivelled, wrinkly and low hanging" | This one is making the rounds now: Quote:
URGENT! FACEBOOK VIRUS ALERT. An email recently went out to women asking them to post the color of their bra. THIS IS A VIRUS.To fix it, you must remove your bra, then go to Setting>Enable Webcam> Record Movie. Please repost to your status.

Sometimes "think pink" really makes me think too. So, I go out rocking my pink RS lanyard. Part of that contribution went towards breast cancer research at that time. Great! But I walk around with a pink lanyard hanging out my pocket and what's the first thing most people think? Probably, "OH HE'S GAY," or "WHAT A METRO HIPSTER LOSER."
I dunno. Food for thought.

i actually thought about something like this--which is why i didn't post anything of the sort on my fb.
on another note: i know you boys love us girls, which is why i highly recommend all the female users on this board to always give themselves a self check and to get an annual physical done!

The fact that this thread exists, the fact that we're arguing if posting bra colours raises awareness means it's working. Sure, at first most of us guys were lost and were like wtf? But that was the point of it... we were curious and began to ask questions. So there's no way you can refute that this campaign raised awareness.
But the next thing is... does awareness bring action? Most of the time no, but any increase in action is already a win in their books. I don't see the problem with people posting their bra colours. Sure it's attention whore ish, but without that risque naughty factor this would never have gotten as big as it is. If the whole campaign was to just change statuses to "Be aware of breast cancer," it wouldn't even have HALF the effect of the current campaign.
My 2 cents.

So there's no way you can refute that this campaign raised awareness. | Question is... raised awareness of what? Of cancer? Like there was someone who suddenly clued in, "Wow, I knew what cancer was before this!"? All THIS raised awareness of was why people on FB were listing random colours in their statuses. Doesn't actually DO fuck all. Quote:

| Stupid thing is, at least with this colour bit... it could have been started for any inane reason, until someone asked WTF? and someone else stepped up and said, "Oh yeah, it's to raise breast cancer awareness, duh!". Wouldn't surprise me if lots of different people came up with lots of different reasons for it before that one, either, and it just stuck because it's a "sexy" cause.
