I work w/ and do exhaust repairs dailys at my workplace, For an easy quick test to see if your cat is working you gotta test the heat difference btwn the front and rear of the cat, if there is drastic differences and your cat isnt rattling when you hit on it, then your probably lookin at a replacement for cat which avg 250 new, direct fit, universal most places charge 1/2 hr labour for 1 if they dont have to do much cutting or 1hr + for dual exhausts and dual cats. Other than the quick temp test, your going into further details if you want exact numbers then yeah someone can probably do it w/ a 5gas analyzer if they are an experienced tech they can just tell you avg numbers your cat is giving and what aircare would give. I only quickly skimmed this b/c i've got a movie to go to and thought i had more time to read RS. If i missed something sry ^_^ not trying to endorse my workplace, but just giving an idea of what most mulffer places do for quick tests and quick estimates. |
Hey guys, just reviving an old thread, I want to know what's a good shop to cut some cats for a good price. I want stainless steel though. Posted via RS Mobile |
speed syndicate? im going to them to get my exhaust modified |
I'm looking for a place to re-align my dual exhausts and have them properly mounted into the cut-outs whatever it takes. I have had a doubtful experience at muffler man when they were first installed so i do not want to take it there. I would rather take it to a automotive motorsports shop to get it done. Basically need them cut, aligned properly in cutouts, if pipes need to be cut out and re-welded or what not, i want them to be as perfectly aligned as possible and im willing to pay for it, i dont just want the mufflers "bent" into place. which is what muffler-man attempted and failed to do after the oddly mis-aligned exhaust install. (the exhausts were made for my car, has proper hangers for my car) Let me know. |
If you want acutal stainless with TIG welding don't go to MufflerMan. I went there and not only did they install my second resonator with MIG blob welding negating the fact that the whole thing was 304SS and TIG'd (I asked if they TIG before going in and was told yes), they also installed it shorter than what was cut out causing the exhaust tip to melt the bumper. Take your car to a real fab shop and pay the extra few $$. |
