my uncle runs a textile company in Shanghai. As the worker's wage kept on rising they are considering moving his factory to vietnam and india.

But once they ran a test factory there they soon exited india all together.
the worker's productivity and discipline just isnt the same.

In Shanghai say a worker could produce 10 T-shirts in 1 hour with a 10% defective rate.

In India a worker produces only 8 T-Shirts with a 20% defective rate (just for example)

after considering the cost and benefit they decided to stay in China and suck up the cost. Nevermind Africa.

There is a reason why most manufacturing are done in China, when there are plenty other countries that offer a much cheaper wage.

India doesn't want low paying manufacturing jobs. There going for IT and other higher paying jobs. IT wise the are ahead of China and India has the best IT schools in the world.

It's not about low paying or high paying jobs..its about the corperate revenue...The companies that are able to make profits will in turn invest more in the country and gradually push up the pay rate and keeps the economies rolling..and is a positive cycle..

I am not sure if you know which IT you are talking about exactly.

India's IT are mostly lower end software designing, similar to China's manufaturing is lower end, profit wise there isn't much difference.

China's got the largest number of engineers in the world, and they are going to almost every field of business..software, electrical, automotive, computer, mechanical, whereas India's engineering is mostly software biased, I wouldnt judge on which one is more healthy, but China's much more balanced in this regard.

Why should I be proud? its just business...there are millions of Taiwanese businessmen in China, along with HKers, Japanese, Americans, and Europeans...

once you start going to China you realize you are just a small potato comparing with others.

A basic (uncensored) Google search. First result:

Anyway, I'm done trying to reason with someone so indoctrinated as to the holiness of the PRC.

omg...the people in the site looks anything but Chinese...you can't tell the difference? I can't believe you buy into it.

I am not saying child labour never existed in China, but from my hand on experience working there, I could not find any atm, and I worked for the textile industry, if there are any child labour, this industry should has the most.

Don't just do a search on google and think you are an expert...

if you want to know how a shoe production facility in China look like,
check out Bao Chen industry, it is a Taiwanese company in China and the largest shoe manufacturing company in the world, with over 0.3 million employees...this is the website of their subsidiary.

http://www.yueyuen.com/

check out the prodution facility page to see how it looks like.

This company produce for ANY shoes brand you could think of, Nike, Adidas, Puma..etc

By no means am I an expert on Chinese manufacturing, but when people like you who has never set foot in China or couldn't even tell how a Chinese person looks like is trying to lecture me on their "sweat shop" factories is just plain silly.

El Bastardo 01-13-2010 11:21 PM

Not interested in going to China. Cuba is as successful as 21st century Communism can be. I've already seen the best Lenin could do. Why go downhill from there?

Google, bout time you fixed your mistake

And that's exactly how much they really care about human rights.

Keep in mind that it IS a communist lead country, which means labourers are above capitalists and monarchs. Child labour is ilegal and I don't think any big company would dare to use them in China.

I'm going to have to agree with this guy about chinese workers demanding more and more (with or without the government backing them I don't know). My family operates a 1000+ worker factory in FuZhou, but has recently moved to a more remote location (still in FuZhou), but with the new location my dad has added a live in "apartment" like building where the workers stay (two to a bedroom with own bathroom), a cafeteria, a convinience store, swimming pool, table tennis, and basketball court. That was VERY different from the way that they used to be treated when I walked the factories maybe five or ten years ago, where the factory would just serve its purpose as the factory, and non of this human resources stuff. As much as I believe in the evils of child labour, from personal experience I have not yet seen any child labors during my tours of China (in or out of my own family's factory) and I did stay in a more industrial based area.

you are very mistaken if you still believe China is a "communist country".
it's probably more capitalistic than the USA..its policy may be very different from the west, but in your daily life you wouldnt feel any difference...this is coming from an expatriate who has lived in China for years and spent the rest of his life in Canada.

Investors should consider putting some money into Google Inc. if its stock price continues to fall.

Shares in the information search firm lost ground on Wednesday, probably as a result of management's threat to withdraw from China. The threat followed a hackers' attack on Google's confidential data that may have been backed by the Chinese government.

The market sees withdrawal from China as the loss of a major market for Google. In fact, it might turn out to be good news.

Google was not a huge force in China anyway, where two thirds of the market belongs to Baidu Inc., a homegrown firm. Analysts at UBS estimate that Google's search revenue from China amounts to less than US$500-million last year, or about 2% of the company's total revenue. They believe there is still a 50% chance that Google will strike some accommodation with Chinese authorities that will persuade it to continue operating in the country.

And what if push comes to shove and Google exits? It's not clear that it will have lost a fortune. Chinese authorities are not in the business of giving away lucrative market niches to foreigners.

Just ask the Big Three car companies, which are limited to 50% ownership of Chinese assembly plants. Or consider eBay Inc., which struggled and eventually decided to sell a majority stake in its Chinese operation to a local operator. Some sources say that eBay's decision was helped along by the Chinese government's "great firewall," which allows it to block web pages it dislikes and resulted in long delays on eBay's site for Chinese buyers.

There is also the issue of China's almost nonexistent protection for intellectual property. By operating in China, Google was exposing its technological secrets in a market where it could not count on legal protection of its patents. All things considered, a strategic withdrawal from China could turn out to be one of Google's brighter innovations.

I dont have to convince anyone, it is the truth...I am always amazed that people can be so certain about their belief without even seeing it or been to the place.

Before I was in China I was like alot of you who believe China is a backwater third world country without any hope. Once I lived there for years I was totally convinced whatever problems China may have, they are able to fix it.

I am not saying China doesnt' have problems, but I think the positives outweights the negative by a great portion, and I have a strong faith in their growth, so does many American economists and investors.

I agree China's fucking retarded for censoring everything.
India > China? NOPE! Read some info on how much foreign investment China had compared to India in the year 2008 or 2009.
Facts will astonish you.

Really? I could have sworn in the article China said that Google leaving would be a detriment to Chinese "net culture". Also, they state China has "open" internet? LOL

I guess when you read in Engrish instead of English, you perceive things differently?
