did you get that from the PRC manual? |

Here's the thing too; there's something called transparency, it's quite easy to question and see how they got their numbers (as biased as they may be). I doubt you'll get the same kind of transparency with a Chinese study or report. |

er...no..this stat is from CNN.."five things you can learn from China" http://www.time.com/time/world/artic...8671-2,00.html All true — and all, for the most part, beside the point. After decades of investment in an educational system that reaches the remotest peasant villages, the literacy rate in China is now over 90%. (The U.S.'s is 86%.) And in urban China, in particular, students don't just learn to read. They learn math. They learn science. As William McCahill, a former deputy chief of mission in the U.S. embassy in Beijing, says, "Fundamentally, they are getting the basics right, particularly in math and science. We need to do the same. Their kids are often ahead of ours." Read more: http://www.time.com/time/world/artic...#ixzz0cgUEXlY3 |

You are a joke. The stats is from CNN. You are a perfect example of a brain-washed westerner who believe blindly and thinks everything about America is right and everything from China is "propaganda". http://www.time.com/time/world/artic...8671-2,00.html I hope you realize now there are alot of stuff in this world that you have absolutely no idea, so dont be so certain about the stuff coming from your mouth, it may just show how ignorant you are. |

Thats right. We forgot that theres no such thing as free speech here in the West. All media is state-controlled and numbers are manipulated. There is no such thing as uncensored internet and we can't communicate without fear of government repression. China is a perfect example of a free society. AMERICA SPREADS PROPAGANDA! |

Americans have earned the right to speak out against slavery having learned from their mistakes. They don't CURRENTLY earn slaves. That ended a few hundred years ago. Holy Christ. How fucking retarded are you? Pick up a goddamned book |

The point I am trying to get across is as you think twice about things coming from China, you should also think twice before you believe anything from the USA.. |

I know that...I was being sarcastic...I am trying to show how sarcastic it is for Americans to criticise others on slave labours when they were the best at being slave masters..The entire american economy was first built on the foundation from the plantations with labours from slavery... I learned that from my ecnonomics history from UT. When the white americans were enslaving blacks (a foreign race) and earned a huge profits from it, the Chinese didnt criticise them. Now the americans are turning around and criticise the Chinese for using slave labours from their own population(albeit a much smaller scale than the americans). Do the Americans actually think they are on any moral high ground to criticise? shamelss. I didnt know there are poeple that are actually dumb enough to not see its a sarcasm. |

I'm matching the level of force you're trying to push down everyone's throat here. I'm compressing the attitude you're conveying over the entire thread into a single post. Quote:
Anything stupid coming from you I'm naturally going to assume is something you genuinely believe is fact. Everything I've read so far contributes to my opinion and you're not doing much to sway me in another direction. Anyhow, please understand that you're talking about a level of global mentality that was hundreds of years ago when we believed the sun rotated around the earth, witches ate children, and that dragons roamed the Earth. Your argument is in line with saying "Its ok to pick your nose and eat it because we did it as kids... and we're basically kids now, right" No, no we're not. We've all matured and we KNOW better. Well... SOME of us know better... And to answer your next post: I never promoted the west as the pinnacle of civilization. Not once. I never said "China was THE shittiest" either. What you're doing is taking your butthurt and using it to put words in my mouth. I'm criticizing people who deny that China does any wrong at all. Also their failed attempt at Communism. Its like they took all of the bad elements and just trimmed off the good. Lenin and Marx are spinning in their graves. |

By the way, China ranks 80th in terms of literacy rate, so they are barely in the top half compared to the rest of the world. USA and Canada are 19th. |

You make some good points Jingwu, but you should know when to stop. Arguing ignorance against ignorant people simply doesn't work. I guess that goes for the other people too. |

If Skinnypup spent less time threatening to ban people for their opinions, calling people idiots, or FUCK CHINA every time someone posts something about China...... These threads would be much more productive in terms of discussing China's future development. |
Just to clarify, for the people who don't get it: 1) I didn't literally threaten to ban jung wu for his statements. I was just pointing out how stupid he is. 2) I am obviously being a little bit facetious with my points about China. Obviously it's an extreme view, and obviously it's not very realistic. I still do believe in the basic overlal points I have been making though. |
His literacy comment is a joke, all of the underdeveloped villages in the rural areas of China, there is no way in hell that they literate. |
