in response, no it is not progressing towards an oligarchy because the the money the select few hold is being spread out at an exponential rate. when the money spreads the power diffuses. the gov't is facilitating this by trying to promote a prosperous middle class, private ownership, capitalistic policies... china's modern day open door policy unfolding before our eyes yet the world still categorizes them on the same level as north korea what is there to argue? do you disagree with me that china is not going to risk political instability at the expense of economic progress? that is the main point im trying to make. whether you think its right or wrong is irrelevant. |
It's easy to oversimplify the matter like a Hollywood movie and view it as freedom fighters versus the big brothers. Or capitalists versus communists. The US may not be as pure as its media portrays and PRC may not be as evil. It helps to travel more and talk to more people from different backgrounds, if one doesn't have the opportunity to study more history. Read about modern Chinese history, know a little about the Cultural Revolution, the horrific deeds carried out by the late Mao and the Gang of Four, and also learn how Deng fought back into power, and the changes he made. To get a more balanced worldview, meet more friends with completely different religious and political view points than yourself. See how the Muslims and Europeans think of Americans and their policies will be a good start. Believe it or not, many people in this world actually think the US is more of a threat to world peace than China. |
