How relaxed are you when driving? (Do you even notice?) http://img694.imageshack.us/img694/9...gatnight1z.jpg Driving. I have done it for 5 years. Its really second-nature for me. But I have recently noticed a shocking discovery, one that all or some might not notice and have... As I drove down the highway, I made several lane changes to pass a few turtles. I began to notice my abdominal muscles are tight and my knees are stiff. I let go, and the tension becomes loose. I continue to drive at a normal speed. My body is tense once again, I let go. Later it comes back. Is this a habit I have developed? I don't know, but I have never noticed until recently, that my body tenses up while I'm driving--aggressively or not. I believe that if I could train myself to be more relaxed while driving, I could save a significant amount of energy from driving. Try it, notice how your body feels when your driving. |
Generally, i'm prettyn relaxed, especially in my heated buckets. But I tend to tense up and lean forward a bit when there's lots of traffic around |
Im pretty relax in normal weather Tense in rainy conditions Ass tensed 100% in snowy/stormy conditions Terror spasms in Richmond |
Driving at night when it is raining or when it is just raining, I probably tense up, otherwise, I'm pretty chill. |
I'm pretty chill when driving from Kelowna to Vancouver at night time, even when it's snowing.. I only tense up when there's really really deep puddles (more slippery than packed snow) |
my driving habit went from relax to tense due to increase of bad drivers, increase of cops. Extra tense when driving in downtown surround by buses, pedestrain and bikes around. |
Maybe that's just your safe side being ready for a situation that might happen. |
Depends on the weather, how good the sight is, and bunch of other factors. |
I've noticed that the right side of my body is usually more tense than the left because I drive with my right hand only for the majorty of time. So if I'm driving a long distance I'll notice my right arm and shoulder tensing up, then I just relax but it'll come back again later. It's weird. But def night time and rain makes me more tense |
normally i'm relaxed no matter weather and time but I am aware of what's around me all the time the only time i'm tense is when i'm next to a semi truck or bus on a narrow road or bridge |
I find I'm tense alot of the time, usually cause I'm always looking out for big bumps/potholes of some sort on the roads. I dont wanna be caught off guard |
just set ur seats at 45 degree angle, lean back drive with one hand on the steering wheel and holaaaa  |
the only time i'm tense is when there's ice. my car kicks out during turns so often, i'm not even phased anymore lol. |
more tense in general now that i'm still " perfecting " my gear shifts lol |
Same here. I'm still trying to drive uber smooth on the suby, only with passengers on board. Posted via RS Mobile |
i'm mostly relaxed when I'm on my normal routes - that is unless I am following a car going 10km/h below the limit (which always happens on River Road in Richmond) |
I find often find myself leaning forward off the seat a bit, lower back against the seat but upper torso off the seat. I've tried adjusting the seat but I can't seem to find a good spot. lol =/ |
I get tense, mad, angry, pissed off, etc when I try to get anywhere downtown... or anywhere in Metro Vancouver in a hurry. But most of the time... I just leave myself plenty of time, not caring about anything, drive the speed limit in the slow lane... let everyone else be the dicks that they are... and I feel so much better. Especially when I block the super-fast N driver who thinks they can get around the slow jerks in the left lane by trying to sneak past me. Then I feel really good :) Ahhh... time to go drive around slow in the rain and piss off some more people... |
I'm super tense, even the slightest tap on the throttle and my vtak kicks in and i get scared shitless. |
I'm pretty relaxed, most of the time. Driving is actually my preferred relaxation method, even in Vancouver. Except when I get downtown or Richmond. Then I need a RMT to give me stress relief. |
I tense up when I pass people. I guess it's normal cuz it induces the release of adrenaline for the fight/flight response |
I can be completely and utterly relaxed (although totally focused) when on the track at 200kph mere feet behind other cars going just as fast ... but sometimes when I'm driving around town I leave hand imprints on the steering wheel and a crease down the middle of my seat.. you just never know what the hell the average driver is going to pull.. |

i'm always relaxed when driving...but i'm totaly aware of my surroundings. it helps that i drive a lifted 4runner with an arb bumper on the way:D don't have to worry about bumps and crappy drivers |
i'm pretty chill when im driving, only time i get tense is when i pass a cop and im unsure of my speed lol |
