melted the housing or the bulb?

if housing, I suggest modifying the circuit by adding a load resistor. It wont be as bright but it'll be better. Also try to get the lower wattage ones.

ya i was looking for led as they dont get hot,, as these werent led, they were just brighter bulbs..

melted the housing, all the plastic was just one big block.. and the bulb in one housing looked to be intact, but destroyed everything around it ,and the plastic had gooped all over the bulb.. the other housing the bulb looks like it blew. or something along those lines.

dont want to mess with adding a load resistor just yet.. i think led's i shouldnt have a problem. ....or could i .....

Adding a load resistor to a bulb? it will get even more hot!!

You guys might want to know the basic electronics and the properties LED and bulbs before messing with your cars!

You only add resistors to LED bulbs in areas that don't have LED as standard, mainly to fool systems that monitor/alert the driver that the bulb is dead (no Amp draw).

Most cheapo LED just use resistors that are hand soldered, it will fail over time. Not to mention, a few voltage spikes they will die.

The best LED bulbs ("for off road use only") is from LEDtronics.. http://ledtronics.com/Products/cat1.aspx?P=C0D6 They use proper LED drivers etc.

but they are not cheap.
