The Liquor Store nearest me in Kits is a magnet for hobos with bottles. Still not worth it.

Good call on Roadstar!

I drive like my gas pedal is an on/off switch. It costs me in gas, brakes, and tires - yet is worth every penny.

A Rogers rep told me the scheme when I bought my plan. My plan would be $25 My5 + $10 txt/vm/cw/cd == $35 if I didn't have to pay the stupid access fees. When my contract is up I know I can do better.

Why even pre-drink? Bring one of these with you filled with booze and stuffed into your sock/crotch:

I've been bringing this to Canucks/Lions games and only buying soft drinks.

Since COD MW2 my eating out has gone down, yet my potato chip grocery bill has gone way up.

Geez, the moment you buy something from the concession stands at their severely inflated prices, you've wasted all the money you've worked hard to save!

A lg coke is like $4. So 2 cokes for $8, and one 26er of rye for $25 == $33 for effectively 26 drinks.

Works well for movies too.

I wouldn't say be a cheap fuck, more like spend wisely. Look for deals/coupons/sales instead of collecting bottles and garbage from behind your neighbours houses.

Okay, that's being a little overboard. But what you can do to save yourself lots of money on toilet paper is this. Buy a six pack of toilet paper (should last a couple years with the method I'm about to show you)

1. After you finish #2, rip just one square piece off your toilet paper.
2. Fold it and rip a hole in the center, but keep that little "center piece" you ripped off for later.
3. Stick two fingers in between the hole, and use them to dig all the gunk in you trunk.
4. Now, use the sides of the square paper and wipe off the gunk from your two fingers as you slide the paper off.
5. Now, remember that "center piece"? Use it to get the gunk under your nails.

Done. Money saved

^f'in nasty

heres a way to save money you may not think about.
phone chargers, shaver chargers, battery chargers, etc.... use electricity when plugged in, even if your electronics are not plugged into the other end.
so when you finish charging an electronic, unplug the charger from the outlet as well.

Which brings me to what I was gonna post.
Find a one day per week part time job.
Lets say you work 8 hours for $8 hr on a Saturday... That is over $3000 a year extra.
Pizza places are great if you like driving. You can work from 5-8 or 9 a couple times a week and make $80 cash easy. Hell I've made $80 in 2.5 hours on a Friday at Dominos before.

There have been many points about how to freeload, but nothing really on how to benefit from the spending you have to do. Something that no one has mentioned is rewards programs. Shoppers Drug Mart has an excellent rewards program and Safeway sometimes has good Air Miles promotions.

And as a couple of people have mentioned, a second job, even if it's only one day a week is a good way to save/earn money. If you have one vice, such as clothes or electronics shopping, you could always put in one 5-6 hour shift a week at a retailer and get staff discounts. Or, you could work at a hotel once or twice a week and get a staff rate at an affiliate hotel the next time you book a vacation. And of course, if you work on a weekend, you'll save money by not going out and getting hammered.

If you're looking to save money on Hydro, charging your phones at your friend's place isn't going to cut it. BC Hydro's base rate is something like $0.008 per KwH. Unless you're leaving things on 24/7, you're not going to reap much savings in little things. Most of your power usage comes from heating costs. Here are my costs for an 870 sq. ft. condo:

Summer months (no baseboard heating): ~$45 every 2 months (one load of laundry a week, no dishwasher use, average stove use, average TV and computer usage)
Winter months (baseboard heating controlled by individual thermostats which I turn down in the evenings and when I go to work): ~$70-120 every 2 months

You have to find a balance between an acceptable temperature and level of heating you want to use because if you don't have any heat, your home might be susceptible to condensation and mold (which will cost you a lot down the road.)

Here's another tip - drink water from the tap. We've got the best-filtered and best-tasting water in the world.

relative. it still tastes terrible unless its iced and too cold to notice the taste. i just use a brita jug at home. a $5 filter (3 pack) lasts around 3 months each. compare that to paying $5-10 per water cooler bottle (18L) and you'll also save the electricity. the worst is people who buy cases of water bottles from the supermarket. drinking them at home is just lazy and environmentally irresponsible. even taking them with you when you go out is just as bad. carry a reusable water bottle and you can use that for years.
