FUCK YEAH but almost a epic fail because of a hot goalie.

TOS'd 02-18-2010 07:04 PM

Booooo 2 out of a possible 3 points won.

But good game nonetheless.

Would it be a good idea to hit up the swiss house decked in Canada clothing tonight?

they might be making fun of you and saying how Canada, with all the high priced NHL players, can't beat the Swiss National team in regulation.

edit: HILLER is really really good. rock solid tonight

Wow kudos to Switzerland.

For them to go this far against a team of NHL all-stars makes me think that NHL players are waaaaay overpaid.

These guys have played probably a total of 5 games including practice together. A lot of them are Centres playing wing. They're coming from a different system. All of them. Obviously there will be some ironing out.

Most of the Swiss no-namers are playing in Europe for a reason.

MG1 02-18-2010 07:10 PM

Crosby ain't finished yet. Iginla and him are just getting started.

Have faith, people! This is our team. This is our game.

I was there when Canada played against the Russians during the Series of the Century in 1972. The Canadian team was booed off the ice when they lost to the Russian team 5-3. Booed off the ice. From that day on, Vancouver fans were known as bandwagoners. Some of the Team Canada players commented that they were glad to be playing clear across the other side of the planet. That's how pathetic fams here are. Long history of poor fans.

Armind 02-18-2010 07:15 PM

I wanna hit up downtown!

JSALES 02-18-2010 07:16 PM

i think i might head downtown too, join the rowdy crowd!!

MarkyMark 02-18-2010 07:17 PM

It wouldn't be fun if we kicked everyones ass all the time, hopefully they come back stronger, and the Americans go down in flames.

The quality of hockey around the world is quite amazing. The NHL is not the only game in town.

Hiller = the great equalizer.

Nice game. Very entertaining.

I'm in no way ashamed of our team. Crosby bleeding and others playing with pain. The team looked a little disorganized, but the heart was there.

NHL and International play are pretty similar now, ESPECIALLY since this olympics we're playing on NHL sized ice.

It's funny because I remember years ago people saying "If those europeans played in our rinks, we'd DESTROY them".

Well they've proven that theory false.

MarkyMark 02-18-2010 07:34 PM

It's a quick tournament, if you don't mesh well together and quick you'll lose to the team that does. I still think they are going to get better going forward

+1.

I'm actually glad we see teams like SUI able to play alongside CAN. As hockey fans, we've complained about hockey not being as big of a sport as baseball, basketball or football. Today's game is an indication that the hockey world has expanded from just Canada & Russia.

This is a good thing. I hope more and more nations challenge the CAN/RUS supremacy and the sport continues to grow globally.

This is a good thing. I like this much better than Russia or Canada just walking to gold medal.

yep you got that right. Unlike womens hockey every team has a chance. It's good to see great competition if it was a cake walk how would the be fun?

Not really racist! 02-18-2010 07:50 PM

Damn good game by Hiller and terrific saves by Brodeur in the shootout. Can't wait for Sunday's game!

orange7 02-18-2010 08:23 PM

Canada outplayed the Swiss badly, but Hiller (from the NHL Ducks) came out BIG!

dam.. Hiller has always been solid in important moments like today. I still remember how he single handily beat the Sharks last year in the playoff.

well we had way more quality chances and more shots on goal.

I know I know.. the swiss battled really hard, and it seemed almost even.

But we had wayyy more chances than them. We just couldn't finish.

teaoh 02-18-2010 08:46 PM

how does OT work out in the medal games? I hope its like the playoffs where its 5 vs 5 until someone scores. Anyone know?

I felt most of the last 1/2 of the game the puck was in the neutral and canadas zone most of the time. Canada didn't have many odd man rushes at all and when the puck was in the swiss zone the colpased the box and got the puck out right away. Of course being a nucks fan seeing the sedins set up and cycle the puck we get used to the control but Canada didn't have much control in the swiss zone at all and when the did it didn't last long.
