Lu is currently better than Brodeur in my opinion. Just because a player WAS good doesn't mean they ARE good. Sometimes you gotta go with the new.

Berz out.

The goalie backstopping all those pucks certainly makes an impact on the team thats in front of him.

No matter how you put it. Brodeur is the way to go, Luongo has never made it past the 2nd round.

when Luongo is playing well, hes a better goalie than Brodeur. but Brodeur is way more consistantly good than Luongo. and to be honest, Luongo hasnt blown me away this year. he hasnt been stealing games like he did 2 years ago.

and also, Luongo is absolutely SHIT in shootouts. we would have lost to the swiss for sure.

MG1 02-21-2010 05:17 PM

The US team is playing smart. Blocking shots and passes. Miller hasn't had any real difficult shots to deal with yet.

Our guys are just running around not knowing what to do next. Hopefully as the game progresses and the adrenalin settles, we can play more as a unit.

Wongtouski 02-21-2010 05:17 PM

lol Corey Perry has ONE move.......hold down L2 spin move in NHL 10 then shoot.

You forget, Brodeur is 36. Just because he won all those things when he was younger, doesn't mean at this point, he is better than a Lu who is in his prime.

As far as this game goes, Bro is over playing his position as if he has no confidence in the team in front of him.
An example of that is him batting the puck out which led to the second goal. Or how he comes out to play the puck with guys around him.

Berzerker 02-21-2010 05:18 PM

The team in front of Broduer was famous for its trap style of play and one of the teams with the least shots on their own goal. Also you can't win if your not scoring and the Nucks have been notorious for lack of playoff goals.

Berz out.

willystyle 02-21-2010 05:19 PM

We better get some chemistry going on soon, so many chances but so little finish.

I think, if anything, the choice to go with Brodeur is a good one. This game is not for medals, so if Brodeur has a bad game, you can go with another goalie in the more important game(s).

You find who's hot and go with him for the rest of the tournament. If it happens to be Luongo, great.

We can say all we want, but there are a lot of great hockey minds behind the bench. I think it's safe to say they know what they're doing.

Even the SJ line isn't playing that well. Marleau used Thorton driving to the net and went for the top corner when he should have made the pass to Thornton for the tip in.

None of the other lines look that good. We have too many skilled players playing together and none of them are really gelling all that well together. At this point, I think a SJ or Chicago team can beat team Canada.

Team USA looks a lot more dangerous because some of the players have played together for many years in the under 18 program.

Oh yeah, and Pronger sucks balls.

LUUUUUUUU 02-21-2010 05:24 PM

put Luongo in net!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That or too many cooks spoil the broth.

Hondaracer 02-21-2010 05:28 PM

Brodeur got to run with it because that way is a win/win situation it's as simple as that

Right now Canada is playing great and could easilly tie it up

what I don't like is the way bro is playing the puck and his non-chelantness around the net, like what's with this stick twirl over your shoulder as you come around the net :/

what I can honestly 100% give Lu over bro is being at attention every second as soon as the puck crosses center line he is -always- ready and hugs the post, ready stance even when a teamate is breaking out of our own zone, he never is back on the posts

This is Canada, so you mean too many chiefs and not enough indians, LOL.

MG1 02-21-2010 05:35 PM

I think Luongo will come through in this tournament if given a chance. Afterall, it's home ice. He knows the ice and boards and how the wind changes in this building, LOL.
