Homemade weight gainer

oh man I just threw a bunch of stuff into a blender and it turned out great!

I'm not sure exactly how much of each I put in so sorta mess around with it.

This is all made with teh magic bullet..

3 ice cubes
fill the container up about half ways with egg whites
maybe 50 ml of heavy cream (whipping cream)
about 3 or 4 teaspoons of crunchy peanut butter
1 scoop vanilla protein powder
cinnamon (if I remember it was just enough to sorta cover the top)

blend.. I found pulsing it works best to break up the ice

no idea on how many calories or protein/fat is in that but it tastes good..
If I had to guess its most likely around 1000 calories..

jeffh 02-15-2010 05:36 PM

toss in some oatmeal and fruit next time
dry oatmeal will mix in pretty well and frozen fruit is better than ice

I only have carbs if I lift... no lifting means that I only eat stuff like cauliflower, almonds, broccoli and so on

I eat before I go to sleep, so I dont wake up in the middle of the night hungry.

when you guys say oats for your shakes

do you mean quakers oats, like this stuff http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...500_AA280_.jpg

jeffh 02-23-2010 11:25 PM

illicitstylz 02-24-2010 12:47 AM

i just realized mine is the quaker oats QUICK oatmeal. Still the same?

jeffh 02-24-2010 02:21 PM

yeah, mines the quik stuff too, i eat it with breakfast as well

gabi 02-24-2010 09:25 PM

yea quick oats are fine... some might have a preference as to what type (ie steel cut) but I'd probably worry about that once you actually make oats a staple of your diet

illicitstylz 02-24-2010 11:42 PM

started putting the quaker quick oats into my shake, definitely not as delicious anymore lol but oh well, if I ate everything for the taste then we wouldn't be working out and minding our health/build

I tried mixing oats in my protein shakes, and i could only do that for so long. Sometimes if i'm not lazy i'll blend together strawberry whey with skim milk and a banana after a workout

Ive been doing this when Im using the shake as a meal, I find it tastes fine but the texture is a lil weird

illicitstylz 02-28-2010 10:05 AM

Yeah the texture gets all... Nutty. And the colour of double chocolate doesn't help either lol.

Anyone else put a tbspo of peanut butter? I'm wondering if just regular jif pb is as good as the pb that's deemed organic

i just eat it on the side instead of blending it in

i would go w/ the organic; take a look at the ingredient decks of organic vs jif/kraft etc. PB

go to costco and buy the KS PB... good price and big jar
