yumyumyum!!! saw it going for $10.80 at golden phoenix but then again...not as classy D= |
i think spending a little extra wont hurt dining at a higher class restaurant |
going this sunday!! i do believe it's about 16-18$ at red star right now. |
gonna have king crab this weekend! |
i heard they rip ppl off like switching the crab with a diff crab inside the kitchen(smaller crab) or taking bits from ur crab to add on to other ppl's crabs etc. What i mean is, you won't get the whole crab u paid for cause that's how resturants make extra $. |
holy shit those pics just made me fucking hungry and craving those king crabs right now |

Haha i remember i use to work for sun sui wah as a kitchen helper in charge of all seafood prep. i couldnt read any chinese but eventually recognized enough to cut shit up. I was so fast ,that a king crab would only take me 5 mins to cut up. One of the hardest things to cut up cus you were only given regular kitchen gloves. When de gutting the crab loses alot of water so the final weight would be a couple pounds lighter. |
saw some for $11 on alexandra beside the cattle hotpot. Really good there, i prefer it over sunsuiwah. oh and when you see specials, dont order their 'set dinner' where they make it different ways for you as a set because the special price doesnt apply to that. what a rip off lol. |
Already had it this week, they dont have bigger crabs yet from 6-9 pounds only It would be better if they have 12+ well we have to wait! |
god damn got me feinin for some king crab right now! defs gonna have some this weekend :D i do prefer lobster more though i have to say |
:thumbsup::thumbsup: |
they rip you off by telling u the weight is 10 pounds when its only 8. |
went to sun su wah last nit , a 11pounder.....sure seemed pretty accurate my cousin went to one of the abalone high end joint..on no.3 or sth They ordered a king crab, by the time it reached their dinner table...they served FROZEN king crab legs, and the portion didnt seem right either. Needless to say, they were hella pissed and choked, left a penny on the table |
Best to make your own, mmmmmmm |
Hydes gonna make fun of you. there was this place next to london drug richmond centre, advertising 8.99 per pound.. I went to sun shui wah and it was 10.99. great portion and they cooked it light like a i requested so i can actually taste the king crab and not the msg/salt bombed sauces |
^ when did sun su wah had it for $10.99 |

http://www.kirinrestaurants.com/ They don't cheat you on the weight plus they make it good. Personally, I find steamed with garlic the best. You can have it steamed with egg whites, which it's definitely not as tasty as the one with garlic as the taste is a little bland. You can also request to fry it with the spicy seasoning which is great also. Usually when we eat it, we ask for them to have 1 crab 3 eats... What this means is that half of it it's steamed with garlic, the other half is fried with the spicy seasoning as mentioned above. The sauce that is left over from the steamed is used to mix it with noodles and also served to the guests. The head shell is used to create a plate of seafood rice which contains scallops, small shrimps, and some kind of yellow sauce (forgot what it's called). Hope that helps! It's in season right now so it's relatively cheap, around $15 per pound at Kirin. |
dope. gonna have some this friday |
