no grace period is needed as it is not a new issue.

fyi: it is also up to the individual moderator that spots it. Say If you registered on Feb 2010 such as yourself, and wouldn't have known because A) you don't see stickies on top or chose to ignore it B) not here long enough to know this has been a problem beforehand, the moderator will indeed see that and grant you a reprieve.

no point arguing it. this is how it is and will be, and it won't be a bother if rules are just followed.
Oh ok, I didn't know it had already been a problem before.

Wasn't arguing... just putting out my two cents worth.
Thanks for clarifying!

And back on topic.... who in the right mind could ever get sick of a Gallardo?

I just do not see how it's a negative thing in any way. No different than saying "search noob".

You don't need to get all high and mighty in your chair, just need to explain it. (Sorry i'm assuming you didn't mean to come off as that but it sort of is).

P <- 1 member/1 post
O <- 1 member/1 post
S <- 1 member/1 post
T <- 1 member/1 post

and the occasional fails inbetween because someone put "RE" or whichever in the wrong spot.

now WHAT is the point of all that? a simple " it's been posted before, but that was awhile ago. Pretty funny" etc would be more suitable. not scrolling down post after post after post just to maybe find a worthwhile response.

Do what Romans do when in Rome.

this is what the managment wants.
Well, I think it's pretty clear that even you can't find a legit reason to have banned him.

He did get his point across which was to say it was a repost and he did this without wasting bandwidth.

GabAlmighty clearly said that he understands that starting the chain wastes bandwidth which is why it would result in a ban. However, he was asking why it's wrong to do what jiggazed did which was say REPOST all in one post.

You reply to gab by saying:

Quote:
R <- 1 member/1 post
E <- 1 member/1 post
P <- 1 member/1 post
O <- 1 member/1 post
S <- 1 member/1 post
T <- 1 member/1 post
which clearly wasn't what happened in this case.

I'd recommend you reconsider the ban you have laid on jiggazed. It is obvious that nobody agrees with the reasoning behind the ban and it's obvious that you realize there was nothing detrimental about his post. It's okay, you made a mistake by banning him. Just live up to it and unban him. No big deal.

Ridonculous is quite correct. This forum if very tight ass about this sort of stuff unfortunately.

I'm more getting a little angry because there isn't a common consensus amongst the moderators. Essentially, this "outbreak" and my warning are complete garbage reasons yet i've seens much worse go by without anythign happening

we can't be everywhere, all the time.

if you see something that you think deserves points/ban/what-have-you and nothing has been done, don't just bitch about it. report it. your keyboard seems to work just fine.

when you report a post, it sends an email to that forums mod team letting them know that you reported that post and what the reason was.
then when someone is online it will be reviewed and appropriate action will be taken.

this is a community, we all have to work together to keep it clean.

think of this as volunteering for a neighborhood cleanup crew.
if everyone pitches in, it will be more enjoyable for everybody as a whole.

Sorry if i'm coming across as bitching, not trying to.

As for the "can't be everywhere" statement; fair enough. But when i see a mod posting in said thread I assume he has read the thread. I understand that every mod is going to have their own personal opinion on stuff but a mutual consensus would be nice.

And what are these points you guys are talking about?

edit: And the only things I would report would be spam or if someone was defamming someone else for no good reason. Beyond that I don't think one needs a "mother" figure following you around holding your hand and telling you what to do.

no offense to the OP
but when ever you're posting something to share, LOOK AT THE DATE.

if it's more than a week old, chances are it's already been posted. and a quick keyword search is easy to do.

Powertripping or not, the whole respost train is getting really fucking stupid, anyone who comes up with the "does ____ have turbo?" joke should also be instant-banned.

the guy that was banned was the first person to point out that it was a repost.....

TRDude could have been referring to anything...

what's worse is that the banned guy is basically a new member... October 2009

But he does get it... and we all do now... What we don't get is WHY? What difference does it make if it's:

"repost"

or

R
E
P
O
S
T

as long as it's done within a single post and therefore not a train of single letter posts thereby wasting bandwidth/resources.

Poor guy.... He probably hates the person who banned him now.

If I was a MOD, I'd just warn him not to do it again. After all, he is a newbie and its not like he was being offensive to anyone.

If the rules are that strict, I don't see how members can enjoy posting on RS anymore.

I'm not saying don't implement any rules on RS, but sometimes there should be exceptions. Just take a step back and look at the situation. If it was serious & offensive, then ban the guy, if he was wasting bandwidth for the first time, just give points & warnings and hope that he'll learn. If a second offensive occurs, then go ahead and ban.

I know every MOD deals with this situation differently, but I'm sure some or most of you will agree with me too.

in one post/in multiple posts = annoying and also instigating for others to follow. When you see this in the first instance, in your mind you already are thinking about the repost train. This is to stop it from even happening.

"repost" in one post = normal

"repost" in one post, but duplicated in another post or 2 or 3 = not necessary.

As for JiggaZed, doubt he's new if he knows about vertical postings. Registration date may have been recent, but doesn't mean he's not a veteran on the internet, yes, the internet. Other websites may allow this, but not RS.

people can still enjoy posting if simple rules are met as it won't concern them.

edit : upon looking at the member's history and posts, (yes I was reviewing whether or not to lift the ban earlier) I came a few threads from the B/S seeing as he's more active there http://www.revscene.net/forums/searc...archid=1338809.

How are these quality posts? All I see is a couple guys using RS Buy and Sell, doing vertical postings while bumping (wanna be creative go do a painting, this is annoying). Now I understand why Elite Trayunze is here, and what's this argument about whether what difference it be one post or one letter per post.

so in the end, JiggaZed's ban will not be lifted after this consideration, it will expire in due time naturally.
