I would tip and if I didn't I'd feel like dirtbag. The only way I wouldn't tip is if he totally fucked my hair up and pissed me off. Saying all that, I haven't paid for a haircut in 7 years which is good because it's cut weekly. :) |
I don't get a hair cut that often, but when I do I normally tip my stylist $10. She's awesome and I love the work she does. She's been cutting mine and my mom's hair since I was in grade 12, in fact she was the one who did my hair for grad. She's changed salons a few times but we always find the new one since she gave us her cell phone. OP you're an idiot. Stop making garbage threads please. |
I assure you the more you tip your barber (assuming that you go to the same place each time), the better your haircut is going to be. They'll pay a little more attention to the details, will get you in when they're busy and don't really have time for you, etc. It's a small price to pay in the long run. My father is a barber so I didn't pay for a single haircut for 21 years but now that I'm out in Ontario I generally tip 20% or so. Barbers have VERY good memory. It's wise to be in their good books. |
i always tip my barber $2 since she already charges pretty cheap ($10) u can choose not to tip, but you might end up with half your head shaved the next time you get your hair cut :D.. so u might want to reconsider lol |
ITT: people from asia who are cheap and using "other parts of the world" excuse. |

My advice would be to not piss the people off who handle your food or cut your hair. My haircuts are 7.99 but I just give $10 and leave everytime. And everytime she actually spends her time cutting my hair, and takes time to make it look better every time, which is a good extra $2 spend in my opinion, instead of her quickly rushing through mine. |
where do you guys get your haircuts??? do they include wash/shampoo?? my haircuts are $28 per and i go like once a month!! really cutting into my bank account plus i have really short hair and a style that doesnt really need skill to cut (for the record, i make it an even $30 everytime i go) |

He did give you an option, he gave you back all the change. He just gave you coins cause 99% of customers usually give tips so he "helped" you by giving you all coins so you can just give a toonie or loonie in tips instead of having to ask the cashier for change for the tips. Just like restaurants, they give you lots of coins cause majority tip. they dont force you to tip before you leave.. |

mines 30 bucks too after tips. <15 usually are men barber shops for the typical buzz cut. |
Lol I go to cut & sharp on 22nd and nootka my hair grows quite fast so I'm there every 2-3 weeks I like my hair short almost completely shaved off. 10 bucks for a 5 minute hair cut. I used to tip him 2 bucks but now he doesn't take my tip because I've refered a lot of people to him and honestly I go there and leave in 10-15 mins tops Posted via RS Mobile |
gf is a hairdresser and shaves my head for free every 2 weeks! |
If you're going to be using the same stylist, they will do a better job if you tip them. In the end you will get what you paid for. |
I only tip if I expect to return. If it's not worth returning for, it's not worth tipping. If It's worth returning, then there's something in the service or product that you find exceptional, and it's worth tipping for. Then again, I get my hair cut by an apprentice hairdresser who does my hair for free :3 |

Stop complaining and backing up your argument about how you don't tip this person or that person. Tipping at a restaurant, or your barber is normal in Canada's culture, if you don't like it then move back to your country or where ever cheap place you're from!. |
i tipped my previous barber and it made zero difference. on the last haircut i had there, they fucked up bad and i still tipped them the $1 on a $9 haircut. the debate on how much a haircut should cost is relative to how important it is to you. personally, i find haircuts for men above $20 unrealistic for my needs. |
can you guys post up where you cut your hair? There is like gazillion places i don't know where to go. Just look at Victoria drive between 33rd and 41 neighborhood. It's like barbershops galore. I'm looking to change to a different place. |
be a man, do the right thing! don't be so cheap..LOL it'll be funny if your barber/hair stylist is on RS and reading this atm |

Lots of eye candy depending on certain days:haha: |
In North America we tip restaurants, barbers, taxi drivers, and hotel staff. That's just the way it is. There's no need to tip the gas station guy, so why would you even care about that? If you're from Ladner, then why would you care so much about other countries? You're here. Not there. If it's so important to you, then go move there. |
I would feel like a cheap ass if I didnt tip. The only way I dont tip is when I got shitty service. You do have the option not to tip, but unless they did a horrible job why wouldnt you tip. Dont be a cheap ass just give him a dollar or two, honestly it is well worth it in the long run. I give my stylist 5$ everytime. |

edit: OP, once you get older and grow out of your naivety, you'll realize that the world doesn't revolve around you. In NA, it's customary to tip certain services, and usually the worker's pay is reflective of that fact. I hope you don't go to the states too often; they'd hate you over there. |
I could never find a barber that I liked until my recent barber. Charges 20 bucks I give him 25 everytime. Know what my hair is going to look like every time he cuts it, always happy with the results. A bit pricy, but I wouldn't let anyone else cut my hair. |
