When I used to work at a bank, I caught some pretty good fakes. Like the tips mentioned above already, I would add: let your instinct guide you. When you hold a fake bill, something subconsciously doesn't "feel" right. The fake bill feels very soft and unusual. A real bill feels crisp, textured with a distinct type of paper. Mind you, there are times when a bill looks fake but is actually real (b/c the person left the bill in their jeans and did the laundry). But if you are questioning it in your mind, ditch it. You can refuse to accept the bill even to a cashier. Just say you want another bill to cashier. They may look at you funny, but so what. A lot of times cashiers themselves can't tell that it's a fake. Or perhaps they are trying to dish off the fake to you so you incur the loss. One other thing at the bank. If you bring a fake bill and the bank catches it, they have to seize it and pull it out of circulation. A lot of customers get choked when I did that, but I think the RCMP orders the bank to do that or sth. If tellers don't catch the fake when taking in the money, but discover it later on... the bank takes the hit. So there are some bank customers that play dumb and DO try to dish it back to the bank and some customers who genuinely didn't know that it was a fake. Either way if its discovered, you lose the bill. I think the most you can do to get back at the counterfeit system is take the fake to the police for investigation. They will write you a receipt, but pretty much that money is lost to you. I left the bank a LONG time ago, so things might have changed. I'm sure there are other rs members that work in a bank that can give you guys more updated info p.s. the lower denominations are usually the fakes $5, $10, $20s b/c you don't question it. We use them so often. With $50 and $100 bills they are rare, so people tend to scrutinize it before taking it in. |

Quick google search. http://www.bankofcanada.ca/en/banknotes/index.html From the horse's mouth. UV light will work. |
as a general rule dont trust young natives lol |
You want a UV light that shines under 400nm and under 390nm. A 360-380nm light would work the best, since it makes the security print in the paper (which says Bank Of Canada 50) a 390nm light will also do this, but it will not be as bright and more of the light is visible to your naked eye and therefore the contrast will not be as great. These LED's can be found on ebay or other webstores online, and you can easily mod one of the DX lights to take a 5mm UV LED. |

shouldof bought that keychain from the nightmarket.. its like a UV LIGHT + laser + led light ... FTW |
just run your fingers over the numbers (the 20 or the 5 or 10 or w/e) or the "BANK OF CANADA" words if you are in a hurry. I imagine that to be very hard to replicate in a counterfeit bill. |
a lot of stores have things like this next to the cash register to help the teller/people who work there. It works on all new and older bills of course http://img443.imageshack.us/img443/4...encycanada.gif |
you made one crucial mistake: you trusted a native to do anything but try to fuck you in any way they could. I dont care how racist it sounds, I will never EVER have a native friend, trust a native with a transaction, hire a native (even though I will get great joy in firing them), date a native slut, fuck a native slut, anything. no matter what they are only in it to get what they can steal from the white man. That fake $100 was printed off of our tax dollars and was used to steal something from the white man (assuming you are white) Fuck natives. |
always meet up with the buyer near a business where you can ask them to check the bills first before you complete the transaction |

bring a blacklight to every deal and also meet at a public place with security cameras may not prevent it but at least you have something to go by |
Post up his email just incase he's stupid and uses the same email to try to scam someone else. |
i use a counterfit pen (if the ink turns dark it's fake) it was funny when some guy tried to buy my macbook in all fake although real looking 100's. The look on his face was priceless though. |

Sure some statistics show that they commit more crimes but... are they not human beings? do they not deserve respect as well as anyone else? |
I don't know if this was mentioned before. But new bills have dots for the blind (or at least that's what I heard). The dots are spaced differently depending on the value of the bill. |
