2004 Acura TL 5AT

91 Octane Chevron, ~$70 fill up for around 450km
mostly city driving and stuck in traffic

2010 Corolla XRS

Usually $40 of regular 87 gas runs me about 400km in a 50 liter tank

lilkulit 03-13-2010 06:18 AM

97 civic sedan
$40-$45 / 87 octane, 450km-500km / 45L tank
mostly city driving

RRxtar 03-13-2010 11:02 AM

96 Jeep Grand Cherokee V8 - 87 octane
$70 - 325km
unless Im 4x4ing then $70 - 100km

05 CBR600RR - 91 octane
$15 - 250km
unless Im at the track then $15 - 100km

Iceman-19 03-13-2010 11:24 AM

250km to a tank Mike? Thats impressive. From what I have seen, and from riding Dereks up to Kelowna for him. 600RR's run out around the 175km mark, the tanks are tiny.

For me, 2002 Mustang GT, some basic bolt ons, exhaust/intake stuff, with an 87 octane tune which im sure does nothing, its about 45-52 lites to fill, and usually 40-50 bucks to fill it, and I get anywhere from 300-400kms to a tank. Depends on how much I use the go peddle.

I actually find it funny that my V8 is getting the same milage then most of these 4 and 6 cyl imports.

so I guess that makes ~60km for ~$6.

note: this was when McD costed less than eating at an actual restaurant.

Even by you calculations, you do realize that most of the cars posted on here get better mileage than you , on your bike, right? Hell, my DD gets double that....

[QUOTE=c4@urdoor;6857574]Fair enough, have you noticed anything? I can honestly bet your mileage will be equal to if not worst than the 87 w/10% Ethanol.

I have put in 2 tanks of 94 so far after the change to ethanol. The fuel econ is exactly the same as before (regular with NO ethanol). For my next two tanks I will be putting in regular to compare. I cannot say what the difference is for now since I've yet to put in regular with the ethanol mix.

I don't understand why my car is relevant to my argument and i'm sorry that i'm not too familiar with honda engines. But I know that all Honda's are recommended 87 octane besides the S2000 and the civic Si.

Your RSX-S and my 335i, both are recommended 91 octane. I have more reasons to put 94 octane in my car than the fit but I don't because IMO it's a waste of money (although its harder and harder to find a non-ethanol 91 pump :( ). Stick to what the manufacturer says is what I'm trying to get at. Unless your car is tuned hardcore but I think most people here are just I/H/E. so

all chevron's went 10% eth... which i hate so much...

but my point i'm trying to make is you should have a good idea of what car you're talking about and it's specifics before making snap decisions... no hard feels or anything

quasi 03-13-2010 09:53 PM

2008 F150
$125 to fill 87 octane
I get 600-700 kms per tank.

Volvo-brickster 03-13-2010 09:54 PM

1992 Pathfinder - 87 octane - $45 / 40L = ~250km

2005 Mustang GT - 94 octane - $75 / 60L = ~250km
