Mike!

Got tempted, so I have to ask...

have any decent, 4ch amps that are last years model? Not looking to break the bank, but anything might be better than the one I inherited ;)

orgasm_donor 05-26-2010 12:06 AM

I have a couple of used two channel amps but no older 4 channels. We have some new product coming in next week but thats a different story. :)

We do have a Phoenix Gold from 1992. It's 50 x 4.... at least that what they rated it at back then. We all know that with all of the extra dynamic headroom, it's almost double that.
It retailed at $1200.00 back then.

I remember buying my Phoenix Gold XS amp back in high school, 10+ years ago. Was a lot of coin back then for a 300watt rms amp!! Has held up fairly well, and is still going strong.

Once you get your new shit in, I'll have to drop by the shop to check out what you have. :)

Well, my tweeters are up on my dash in my TSX and they sound spectacular! It really depends on what kind of tweeter it is, the power you give it, the EQ'ing you have and what crossover you have (passive or active).

In the picture, it looks as though the tweeter is kind of pointing downwards. This is also not an optimal position.

As an IASCA sound quality judge, I would have to say that in your car, with what you're going to do with it, your best bet is to utilize the factory location. You can always change it later. If you get a 4 channel amp like we discussed, then you can control the system to your liking. Just using the passive x-overs will make you need to install dampening pads (carpet) on top of the tweeters to reduce the amount of high frequency bouncing off of the window.

If you're going to do like the thing in that picture, spend more time than they did. Notice the duct tape in the door? I noticed that the finish wasn't that good of a job.

My professional opinion is that this job in the picture is a "fail" in sound quality and installation.

bokyo102 07-04-2010 09:37 AM

hi installerz, your reply only proves one thing, that soundsgoodauto customer service does not stop when a customer goes out of the shop's door, even after sales you are still going out of your way to give your professional advice. thanks.

nabs 07-04-2010 01:10 PM
