I keep mine clean. If I'm not using it I have a microfibre towel/cloth covering it and it's well ventilated. So not much dust gets around. I'm not sure if it fucks it up but every couple months I get my Compressed air in a can to clean the vents. |

^ you haven't looked inside a PS3 have you.
I think the official manual says to use a vacuum to clean it via the vents.

haha i bought mine when the first 80GB came out...it was actually some walmart anniversary sale that was posted on revscene
$550 + taxes...ended up being $62x.xx i remember
that was less than 3 years ago and sucks knowing it can be had for 1/2 of the price now. Oh well as a blu-ray player hopefully it'll last me another decade or sthing haha.

The people who bought it from November06-March07 were the real Ballers. Why I say then is because there were no Good fucking games yet we still bought it.
Remember guys, we bought our 60GB PS3 at $699!!!! FUCKING $699! Then we bought Resistance the game which was like $69.99 and an extra controller that didn't have freaking DUALSHOCK...for $59.99. OH how times have changed....sigh....

^ exactly that's why backwards compatibility was so big
i should've waited until 2009 when they came out with "In-Game XMB" and trophy support...that's why early adopters always pay the premium...but this time it gained us B/C and also 5 free-blu rays!
and nah they weren't the real ballers, I know they sold retail launch 60GB for $600 (retail..not the eBay bs)...but in 2007 the 60GB actually went up to $700 retail! I was a bigger idiot on consider getting one at that price.

^ You sure, I thought for Canada it was always $599 for the lousy 20GB and 699 for the 60GB?
I paid $699 for mine. I remember I was on Sonystyle.ca at night and I saw that they had stock so I jumped for joy!
EDIT: Okay I just checked my statement from January of 07. I got the 60GB for 659.99. Interesting! Then I bought a 2 year warranty on top of the 1 year that it came with cause I knew the PS3 will crap out since it was new. So far so good and my warranty's gone. God damn it!

$499 FTL especially since a used copy of MGS4 can be had for peanuts now |

You can call Sony to request new screws if you stripped it. It's usually free.

Superglue a small rod or some screwdriver bit that's around 3 inches long then turn it with pliers. You should be able to turn the screw with pliers without supergluing it though. Last resource would be drilling it.
Next time when you take a screw off. Make sure the philips head is the right size. I believe the correct size would be a Philips #1 head. When you unscrew stuff apply pressure when turning. If you don't you'll likely strip the screw. It may sound like a simple thing to unscrew things but most of the time people do it wrong.

for the blue HDD screw, I make sure the screwdriver is in there really good (so that it's stuck into the blue stuff a bit) and then turn it real quick, that usually pops the bit of a seal from the blue stuff and then it's always loose.
