Wealth is not how much you spend, but how much you keep.
For those of you who spend $500 on a pair of jeans, do you think it's worth it? Quality wise, to me at least, a pair of $90 A&F jeans is just as comfy & well made as a pair of $300 TR jeans.
And there's a whole argument of whether expensive clothes actually make u look good. Someone can spend a fortune and cover themselves with LV stuff. Like LV hat, lgasses, scarf, bag, shoes..etc but they'll look like a complete retard. On the other hand, mixing & matching cheaper brand stuff can make u look very good as well.

There's not really much point to this unless you think having a big number in your bank account when you die is better than living a kick-ass lifestyle of travel, toys, and easy women? Personally, before I rest my mortal coil, I would rather live life like a rock star and fuck like Hugh Hefner in the Playboy mansion.

No luxury item is "worth it," necessary or practical. Most people buy luxury items to peacock and get more ass.

You must be referring to the tasteless mainlanders? There's no accounting for tastes, but that look in China will get you LAID (as will $20).

It's not about how much you spend on your cars or clothes.
It's if you have the style to match it.
You could spend thousands on your clothes and still look like an idiot in your M3. VS the guy who can spend less but he still has a sense of style.
Who would look better in lets say.. an M3
The guy wearing Ed Hardy and whatever else.
Or
The guy wearing a simple dress shirt, nice jeans, and shoes
Or
The guy wearing a beater, trackpants, and flipflops.
many people wear g-star raw and jack jones and ed hardy..
some are rich and drives nice cars, some are friggen poor attention whores that takes the bus
hard to tell if ur in BC

Before sex, you help each other get naked. After sex, you only dress yourself.
Moral of story: In life, no one helps you once you're fucked.
generally when i see middle ~ old age men / women dressed in business suits it gives me the impression that they're financially well off. But sometimes im mistakened as some of those people are hotel bus boys or the sales associates working at places like gucci or versace.
clothing is not an accurate indicator for how wealthy a person is. When i walk through RC it seems like canada's GDP per capita has risen immensely by the abundance of " expensive " clothing, especially on us youngsters.
So the billions of dollars spent on luxury cars and high-end fashion are purchased by commoners?
I am just speaking about the millionaires I know. There are obviously others that think differently.
Dr. Stanley's, author of "The Millionaire Next Door" also has found that the majority of millionaires don't spend much on expensive consumer products either.
nope, seen people where $300-$400 pairs of jeans and drive old, dying corollas.
I had to laugh when I ran into a girl I knew that was working at a trendy clothing store in a Kelowna mall awhile back, while she casually mentioned to me that she was going to be buying this fucking ridiculous pair of $400 jeans.
$400 pants! ESPECIALLY for someone who makes a absolutely shit wage.... I dont own a pair worth more than $70, and even thats stretching it.
Myself and my buddy who overheard my conversation could barely contain our laughter before we left the store shortly after.
that's the way it goes. some people might value a luxury car over luxury clothes. each of us is after luxury but there is no materialistic definition to luxury.
to walk and breath is a luxury
to wear those gucci glasses is a luxury
to drive that m3 is a luxury
to fit into a crowd is a luxury
and many more examples that u could imagine that are luxurious to you
the person who owns IKEA
a billionnaire now
at times would eat at IKEA for cheap ass food
and im pretty sure he doesnt buy all this brand name stuff
he even probably goes to H&M for all his clothes.
That was a publicity stunt by IKEA to make poor people (IKEA's target customers) feel good about themselves and not invoke jealousy. What they failed to mention is his collection of Porsche 911, French Winery + other luxury assets that he owns.
Certain clothing, it is worth it to spend $$$ on such as a nice suit and dress shoes as it will usually last you 10-15years and never go out of style. However spending lots of $ on fads is a waste, look what happened to bape, not many people wear it anymore (except that fat guy in the C63).
When I was doing a summer intern as a teller, it was so disappointing to see people wearing all these designer couture, flop their LV bag + benz/bmw key on the counter and their balances are near zero.
Like it's Status>priorities/budget at all cost to them.
I don't think so. Because if let's say there's a honger powered by daddy driving a GTR or something. They all dress like typical guys that hang out at the BBT places in richmond with the flaming orange hair. They could also be the same people driving the BMWs, STIs, or even a modded Fit. So it's hard to tell based on what they are simply wearing.

I'm gonna copy and paste some stuff from the fashion post cause i'm too lazy to retype:
i don't like people that pay $200 on in-your-face branded clothes like christian audiger(don't care if spelling is right) but i have no problem with anyone spending $200 on a bespoke dress shirt. i'm willing to pay a bit of investment pieces of clothing that last years(usually made of wool) like suits, sweaters, coats.
usually the in-your-face crowd are the ones who are insecure.
From American gangster: "The loudest one in the room is the weakest one in the room"
If you got money and are into fashion, you WILL buy nice clothes.
If you got money and are into cars, you WILL buy nice cars.
If you got money and aren't into fashion, you'll buy good enough clothes cuz you just don't care. Why is it so hard to understand that not everyone is gonna care about nice clothes or cars, whether they have money or not?
waiting for marco911 to chime in, but dont know where that guy is at these days...
if i dressed to fit my car... i would be pulled over every 500ft!
its bad enough im a big asian driving a white lexus thats been moderately modified, if i started wearing a suit all the time, and even white dress shoes, im screwed!
Don't think there is a link or rather most people who can afford it don't care.
I have worn my mechanic overalls and driven in my lexus/sti out to lunch in richmond and have worn quality name brand clothes in my mazda hatch for the cargo space needed to carry a TV/ HiFi etc...
