Usually I see people who rock ed hardy and loud-ass clothing driving shitty cars or taking the bus. Generally, people who drive luxury cars don't show it through loud clothing imo.

you need to go around wearing a Hawaiian shirt with popped collar inside a white suit like this guy:

and then wax your hair back.....kick some ass on the street just to go with the car.

There is no correlation.
Whether it's clothing, cars, or any other market, people with money will spend it on what they are interested in.
You think spending $500 on a pair jeans, or spending $50K on a home theater setup is dumb? Well those same people might say that spending $100K on a car is equally stupid. It's all about what you're interested in.

Spending $50k on a home theater would pretty much mean you would never need to buy anything ever again. Maybe a new TV/Projector but really those are only a small part of the $50k budget.

wouldnt say there's a correlation, but i have to admit that i do stereotype
i.e. when i see a white bmw i'd expect to see asian guy/girl driving it and maybe asian girl will have an LV bag or sth... but of course thats not always the case.

I think it depends on a whole lot of other factors. I wouldn't say there ISN'T a correlation, but most of the time I think its just a matter of finding clothes that are comfortable for where you are driving to, what you're going to do when you get there.

Of course a guy in a nice suit, black leather shoes stepping out of an Audi R8 at a fancy restaurant would automatically project his image points to the moon. But what if the same guy wanted to take his Audi R8 to the gym? Is he going to wear a nice suit and black leather shoes?

Of course there is a correlation. Nicer car tends to be correlated with higher income which tends to be positively correlated with dressing better. If you survey the top 100 customers of Holt's, I'm certain that most will drive fairly nice cars - because people who know how to dress well have taste and style that carries over to other parts of their lives.

The only thing that would really stay future proof are the speakers and speaker cables. Rest of the gear would have to be upgraded as the tech improves.

The amplifier should last you years too. If you buy everything for your current home you shouldnt really need to upgrade for a very very long time.
You buy for the size of the room. Just cuz they are coming out with 11.2 surround sound doesnt mean you actually will get any use out of the extra speakers. Also a higher end amplifier will keep value for longer.
The only thing left really is the TV and Projector which really is not THAT expensive.

Compared to clothes and a car.... home theater is actually a good "investment".

i would definitely spend money on a killer home theater. my setup right now ain't bad.

no sticky floors, no douchebags with their phones going off, no need to go an hour early to get the best seats, don't have to pay for overpriced popcorn.

i do enjoy imax movies though.
