Change Sorting...Machine

Anyone know where there's one of those machines where I can dump a huge amount of coins into and then they would give me bills or whatever? I've got a large jar of change that I would love to get sorted and to have to separate the coins and roll them individually would annoy me to no end.

Haha, they use to have these, but not anymore. I heard they always give wrong change anyways. I suggest you hit up staples and get a change sorter, its like a plastic container that has different levels and it sorts all your change. Unfortunately, you can't sort a lot of it out, and you have to kind of sift it. If you're willing to throw down, there are automatic coin sorters as well, but those will cost you a pretty penny.

Safeway?

C06cityboi 03-24-2010 02:53 AM

walmart has one. it's in the office items, safes and etc. it's small, i don't think it's that pricey, but i wouldn't really know as well.

I called River Rock and they said that:

1. you have to play. No problem...I play anyways...

2. they don't accept pennies...which is the majority of everyone's change jar.

Greenstoner 03-24-2010 07:36 AM

if you are the type of person pay cash for pumping gas, i suggest you put some dimes and pennies in the car...
you can tell them to put like 10.23 or whatever, its actually a good way to get rid of your change quickly and not wasting it...

Ronin 03-24-2010 07:47 AM

I don't. That's what credit cards are for. I'm the type of person to get a big jar and then put all change in it at the end of the day.

hirevtuner 03-24-2010 08:28 AM

go to superstore metro and use the self serve checkout and buy something and dump out all your change, that's what I do

Death2Theft 03-24-2010 08:29 AM

U can use my machine for a 5% fee

brought mine to grand villa and they took everything so i'm pretty sure casinos should accept pennies as well

josh t-1 03-24-2010 11:24 AM

most credit unions installed change counting kiosks that are free to use

choda 03-24-2010 11:35 AM

That BS if River Rock said that, just go to Edgewater, that's what I did and got some crisp bills!

TOPEC 03-24-2010 11:44 AM

i can sort it out for u only if i can keep half the amount

fishing666 03-24-2010 12:47 PM

This is actually what I do. But I also take the bus to metrotown that day as well and just chuck (back then) $1.50 in mostly nickels, pennies and dimes into the ticketing machine.

Don't they only give you a receipt for store credit or something?

I've been doing it for 3 years now. It's not a problem.

So people on the phone are full of shit. Walking out of River Rock right now with $165 that weighs grams rather than tons. Took maybe five minutes...and 4 of it was walking.

So you just go up to the "cashier" people and hand them all your change... ?

Ronin 03-25-2010 11:07 AM

Yep.

Walked in with about ten pounds of change...put it in four of their change cups. Lady ran it through the machine and it comes out all sorted. She pressed a button and it all came out in a bag, one for each denomination.

She said "Your total is $164.92...would you like that in twenties?" Yes. Walk back to car...done.

Culture_Vulture 03-25-2010 11:40 AM

Once in high school I tried to pay $1.50 in bus fare with pennies and nickels :)
