| Where to buy new pair of glasses/frame?
So my glasses just crapped out yesterday and I'm in dire need of a new pair of glasses ASAP. I live in Richmond. Where would be a good place to buy some cheap glasses frame? I heard that commercial on the radio last time, don't remember their name. I'm thinking I might throw down and get some designer frame this time, but I wont mind other brands that are cheaper and have good quality too. I might get a pair of prescribed sunglasses as well, if the price is right. Is there ususally discount if you get glasses+sunglasses?

Eyemate Optical, look the number up call and look for Samson. Say Winson told you to call. Lots of people on RS have gone through him with no complaints.

Just spoke to Samson and i was quoted 350 for a pair of Armani that I really lie. Are glasses really this expensive these days? I asked why the price is so different from online, and he said it was because of the lens. Can someone that knows this stuff confirm? Posted via RS Mobile |

Posted via RS Mobile | I don't personally wear glasses but know lots of people that do and from what I can see yes glasses are expensive. If you shop around for the same pair I'm sure at some point you will find it cheaper else wear. I'm not going to sit here and claim my buddy Samson has the best price in town. However, Samson is an honest and fair guy and will be easy to deal with.

clearlycontacts.ca is one of the cheapest places but you have to have a prescription and you don't get to try them on first. the cool thing is that if you don't like your glasses, you can send them back free of charge!

If it was just 10 20 bucks I would've just went with it, but prices are about 3x-5x that from ordering online vs getting it in a retail shop, and money is real tight so I'm just wondering if lens+frame online really will be bad for my eyes.

I've shopped at Samson's place 4 times. I go back simply because he provides excellent after-sales support and his prices aren't bad. I also know that he's not ripping me off as his prices are already very competitive.
But if you want to be a baller, my last two purchases have been made at Bruce Eyewear
Edit: Clearly Contacts can go to hell. They sent my sister a pair of frames that were fake/knock-off Gucci.

My glasses are from http://ic-berlin.de/
No screws so nothing ever gets loose. All titanium...the pieces are just slotted together and flexible so it is extremely unlikely to break.

costco. I don't have a membership either; borrow! ideally a family member's or someone with your same last name.
I went today and got lenses for $120 (lenscrafters price: $235). I used my dad's membership and they were cool with it.
If you need an eye exam, the lady there is nice and charges $70, which is $20 less than iris. She told me she just finished volunteering for the olympics - her job was to give free optional eye exams and glasses to olympians!

glasses range from the materials. pastic frames with some run of the mill lenses will be around 200ish. titanium goes for a bit more... but i htink most of the cost is in the lenses adn your prescription

When you buy online, you honestly do not know what you're getting. Depending on your prescription, certain lenses can do certain things and not all lenses are created equally. It is unfortunate but you get what you pay for. Somebody mentioned this earlier - certain materials of frames and lenses will be the factors that determine your end cost. If at all possible, avoid buying online but this is just me as I do not know what I'm getting. In addition to that, supporting a local business will at least warrant aftersales support and to me, that is important especially when it comes to warranty. Afterall, hey, these are your eyes.
While buying online may save you money, don't forget - cheap lenses can potentially be bad for your eyes. Also, cheap lenses can result in scratching a lot easier. If you scratch your lenses to the point where they're useless, you are ultimately spending $$$ again. Do some shopping locally, get some quotes for frames and lenses you want. Once you figure out what you want and approximately how much the ballpark range is, talk to Samson. Even if he may not have the best prices (although I'm sure he does) I know for a fact that he will stand behind his product before and aftersales - 100%.

I've never been to the place, but from the sounds of it, it seems the price is competitive. Also one of the most important thing is that from the reviews he has integrity in his work.
Just remember, brand name frames and brand name lenses aren't cheap, especially when you go for both.
