Panasonic DMC-GF1

Thoughts? I think this thing is pretty cool. I'm loving the pancake lens...20mm f1.7. Too bad the crop factor is 2.0x rather than 1.6x, though.

I'll update this when I take product shots of it tomorrow.

Man I want one with the pancake so bad, but at the price it's at it's out of reach for me :( The only other solution is the new cheaper PEN with their 17 2.8, but it's not a 20 1.7 :(

Also, I'd like to give you props for taking a picture of a camera with both hands while driving :p

Senna4ever 03-31-2010 11:39 PM

What you bought one? Cool..that lens is one awesome piece of glass.

Dude, that's illegal to do that while driving. If you had used a mechanical film camera it would have been ok, as the law states that one cannot use hand held electronic devices while driving. :p

skyxx 04-01-2010 12:26 AM

^ Hahah Awesome loophole!. But then he would then have to go develop the film then scan it....etc etc Ah you get the idea! :lol

Couldn't possibly care less about that idiotic law.

!MiKrofT 04-03-2010 11:40 AM

Nice. I want one of those but too expensive. Got a G11 instead.

Levitron 04-03-2010 01:25 PM

Got me a Olympus E-P1....I love mine :)

Best thing: being able to buy an adapter and use my old FD lenses!

endless402 04-03-2010 05:35 PM

i was thinking about getting an e-pl1 and using old nikon lenses too

Tim Budong 04-03-2010 06:30 PM

This GF1 is what i would call
FUCKING AMAZING FOR WHAT YOU GET
that pancake 20mm 1.7 is worth quite a bit of money. That lens makes the difference

Senna4ever 04-03-2010 11:15 PM

Leica M to Micro 4/3 adapter FTW!

skyxx 04-04-2010 11:41 PM

I played with a display model today and I must say, it feels good in my hands. The thickness, weight and materials felt great!

Ronin 04-06-2010 04:41 PM

Hmmm, stuff got deleted.

Here's some shots of the camera that I took of the GF1 for an article I'm writing

endless402 04-09-2010 10:20 PM

hmmm used gf1 bodies are 400 in japan or 650 for a new one with 20mm
decisions decisions...250 is worth it but the goal was to use my old lenses with it...

anyone want my pana lx3 for 300? japanese language lol

Senna4ever 04-10-2010 03:14 AM

Ronin, you need to put more fill on the front of the cameras for a more effective product shot, IMHO.

qoopoo 04-11-2010 08:30 PM

if you are getting a m4/3 camera mainly for legacy lens, I recommend getting an olympus one for the IS and the wonderful EVF.

endless402 04-11-2010 08:35 PM

yup but olympus is $$$ unless i get e-PL1 but that one has bad lcd. and i want the pancake 20mm :P

keitaro 04-11-2010 09:51 PM

Are the Lumix lenses made by Leica as well?

Not the micro 4/3 lenses.

Mananetwork 04-12-2010 01:51 AM

So much talking and not enough photos! :lol

endless402 04-12-2010 05:21 PM

still cant decide between GF1 + 20mm or a E-PL1. dont like the kit lens on the e-pl1 but the in camera anti shake is the difference maker. that and the fact that panasonic jpegs have poor colour rendering. olympus does skin tones and reds and blues quite well

I think you've pretty much answered your own question. Can the E-PL1 be had without a kit lens? Imagine buying a used Nikon 300mm f4 for that thing, you'd have a stabilized 600mm f4 on it!

qoopoo 04-13-2010 10:42 PM

Buy E-PL1 + 20mm.

endless402 04-13-2010 10:45 PM

yeah made my decision. e-pl1 kit, get 20mm (hard to find used). adapter for nikon lenses and M42

from what i remember, e-pl1 body only was only a 50 dollar savings. it's not a bad lens and compacts so might as well get it for all around purpose.

endless402 04-14-2010 03:05 PM

anyone want a cheaper gf1 body? lol i just want the 20mm
