Panasonic DMC-GF1

Thoughts? I think this thing is pretty cool. I'm loving the pancake lens...20mm f1.7. Too bad the crop factor is 2.0x rather than 1.6x, though.

I'll update this when I take product shots of it tomorrow.

Man I want one with the pancake so bad, but at the price it's at it's out of reach for me The only other solution is the new cheaper PEN with their 17 2.8, but it's not a 20 1.7

Also, I'd like to give you props for taking a picture of a camera with both hands while driving

What you bought one? Cool..that lens is one awesome piece of glass.

Dude, that's illegal to do that while driving. If you had used a mechanical film camera it would have been ok, as the law states that one cannot use hand held electronic devices while driving.

Got me a Olympus E-P1....I love mine

Best thing: being able to buy an adapter and use my old FD lenses!

that pancake 20mm 1.7 is worth quite a bit of money. That lens makes the difference

I played with a display model today and I must say, it feels good in my hands. The thickness, weight and materials felt great!

Ronin, you need to put more fill on the front of the cameras for a more effective product shot, IMHO.

if you are getting a m4/3 camera mainly for legacy lens, I recommend getting an olympus one for the IS and the wonderful EVF.

still cant decide between GF1 + 20mm or a E-PL1. dont like the kit lens on the e-pl1 but the in camera anti shake is the difference maker. that and the fact that panasonic jpegs have poor colour rendering. olympus does skin tones and reds and blues quite well

I think you've pretty much answered your own question. Can the E-PL1 be had without a kit lens? Imagine buying a used Nikon 300mm f4 for that thing, you'd have a stabilized 600mm f4 on it!

yeah made my decision. e-pl1 kit, get 20mm (hard to find used). adapter for nikon lenses and M42

from what i remember, e-pl1 body only was only a 50 dollar savings. it's not a bad lens and compacts so might as well get it for all around purpose.
