How fast is your car? that you think you need a helmet?

TheMatty 04-09-2010 08:21 AM

his sig does say EVO FTW
which he will need a helmet for

josel_atr 04-09-2010 08:22 AM

hahaha i have an evo 8.

but i dont know if i can drive it fast enough. it will be my first time on the track...

Phil@rise 04-09-2010 09:21 AM

doesnt matter how fast you need a helmut

jlenko 04-09-2010 09:45 AM

You only NEED a helmet if you have a convertible, or a motorbike, regardless of how fast (or slow) you are. If you have a hardtop, you're ok without a helmet til you hit 13.99 or faster.

If it's his first time out to Mission... I don't expect he'll get that quick on his first day. It takes some people a few tries just to figure out the christmas tree!

jeff_alexander 04-09-2010 11:22 AM

Do you think many people will go?

Inaii 04-09-2010 11:45 AM

Heard from a friend who lives out there that it's snowing in Mission. If the infield is still soaked I doubt many people will show. It'll be all the regular cars and none of the awesome trailered ones.

eurochevy 04-09-2010 12:09 PM

car is still getting the trany's bell houseing replaced..won't be back till next week otherwise i'd be there

Rofl, snowing it is not.. weathernetwork.com bud.

And EVO 8 guy will probably do low 14's on his first few runs, AWD, just foor it to 6k rpm and pop the clutch and let the AWD do the work haha.

BTW how is burnout comp at 4 if gates dont open til 4 30?

jeff_alexander 04-09-2010 12:23 PM

I'd trust a friends eyes over the networtk

You will get a warning first, then the 2nd time you'll get booted. Trust me you wont hit less then that unless your really pro with stick.
http://missionraceway.com/street_legals.php rules for street legals

civic_rice 04-09-2010 12:39 PM

i'll be taking the new shell out tonight for some shakedown passes on street tires. sorta expect a mid 13 tonight, get my slicks on and go for broke. im hoping that the track is preped but i have a feeling wheelspin is going to be big tonight. see you guys there lol look for the civic with fuel pressure gauge on the hood

Lomac 04-09-2010 01:01 PM

It's still getting pretty cold at night right now in the Valley, so expect some traction issues once the sun peaks the trees around the track.

bloodmack 04-09-2010 01:02 PM

As long as the wind doesnt pick up I think it should be fine.
Says sunfall is around 8PM tonight

can? so you didnt actually do it your just assuming? Also, some tracks vary and I think that it used to be 12.99 a couple years back.

Inaii 04-09-2010 03:38 PM

13.99 is when you need a helmet. My brother hit that last year around the end of the season and was asked to wear one from then on. Also, my friend's fb runs around 12.6 and he's been told he needs a helmet as well. So there you go.

And bloodmack it snowed in Coquitlam for a little while this morning. weatheroffice.org bud, weathernetwork.ca is east coast and rarely ever correct for Vancouver's weather.

Strzelec 04-09-2010 04:28 PM

Sweet, not gonna go today, but i'd really wanna do that in the summer.
Is it just drag racing that they have, or do they have another event for an actual track too?

Raid3n 04-09-2010 04:55 PM

they have a road course as well, but never on the same day.

and usually the road coarse events are run by groups like the porsche club and takeda. don't think you can just roll up an pay a fee to go for a few laps...

So true

First time i went to mission i borrowed a helmet from a buddy, but didn't intend to use it beacuse i knew i would be slow.

While passing tech, the guy kept asking...."so, you are going to use the helmet right?" He gave me a total stink eye when I said no and said I would be above 14.

Only got 3 runs in, 1st and 3rd runs went up in wheelspin, 2nd run was the only decent one.

Best of the night was a 14.11 :haha:

I did it back in like 2006, and then in 2007....have time slip and ting. but they didn't care about the helmet anyway.

pretty damn sure it's 12.99 man a whole lot of cars off the showroom will beat 13.99 these days. My Galant will smoke a 13.99 as long as I launch it proper...
