Ron Dennis, the man in charge of McLaren Automotive, recently slammed the Bugatti Veyron calling it “a complete piece of junk.” McLaren, for those who don’t know, held the record for the world’s fastest production car with the McLaren F1 from 1992 until the launch of the Bugatti Veyron in 2005. The McLaren managed 243-mph in the F1, which was topped by 10 mph by the Veyron. McLaren has also just released a new model, the MP4-12C, which is designed more as a true exotic than an all-out supercar.

Dennis wouldn’t be the first person to attack the looks of the Veyron, calling it “pig ugly,” but his criticism is more than just aesthetic. In an interview with Arabian Business, he said the car “doesn’t go around corners,” and even spoke frankly about an unnamed (cough, Top Gear, cough) BBC program in which the two cars drag raced each other in Abu Dhabi. The shootout had to be rigged says Dennis to make the Veyron look as fast as it does. “We had to do that whole thing about ten times before it [the Veyron] managed to get off the line cleanly and catch us up. Because every time they dropped the clutch it bogged down and we were gone.”

I dont know, im thinking McLaren is mad.. Prove it with a faster car dont start calling someone elses hard work junk, especially when they themselves know how much it takes to make a car like the veyron.

we all know the Bugatti is fast...but hard to argue Ron's comments about styling, handling, and launches.......

1exotic 04-12-2010 02:01 PM

Yeah because a car that weighs 4,162 pounds and does 0-60 in 2.4/2.5 seconds is crap. This car wasn't built for handling but the extreme speed, so the buster ass bitch can keep spitting his do cus no bo care about a ho.

Z3guy 04-12-2010 02:09 PM

I wonder why Formula 1 racing is more popular than drag racing?

StylinRed 04-12-2010 02:17 PM

he said it in an interview with an arab magazine... obviously he's just building interest for the mp4-12c they're competition again after all

Well not really competition. The mp4-12c is a super car while the Veyron is a hyper car.

skyxx 04-12-2010 02:28 PM

The Veyron is not a car, it's a house.

Not a very good house. I rather have an old school VW van, much cheaper and has way more room. :lol

Depends on where you go...

tonyvu 04-12-2010 03:16 PM

ionno about you guys but to me the veyron only would've won if they had a long straight away like that. lets say a veyron and a mclaren were to drag at a street light the mclaren would win hands down, but the veyron would win in the long run, but thats to say if they have enough roads.

Wasnt it Top Gear that said that if the McLaren passed the Veyron at 200 km/h the Veyron would still beat it to 200 mph

InvisibleSoul 04-12-2010 03:37 PM

I'll still take the McLaren F1 any day.

tamazoid 04-12-2010 03:45 PM

I'll take the Mclaren F1 still too! My favorite car! Well I'm pretty sure it's still the fastest naturally aspirated car in the world. And it should be worth more too.

flagella 04-12-2010 03:47 PM

I'd take F1 any day over Veyron.

Rich Sandor 04-12-2010 04:18 PM

McLaren F1 > Veyron

I must say I'm a bit disappointed with the MP4-12C.

I think it's actually the other way round - Top Gear didn't even launch the Bugatti hard off the line and made the race closer than it really should have been. All the tests I've seen show the Veyron to be a mid 10 second car in the 1/4 mile and mid to high 2's for 0-60. The F1 was a low 3 second 0-60 car with a 1/4 mile time in the low 11's.

LOL...Rs is no different from Ron Dennis.

Type R B18C is the best...Ford Mustang is a piece of junk.

LowTEC 04-12-2010 06:01 PM

McLaren F1 > Veyron any century! From central driving position to extensive weight saving design. And I don't even want to start on the appearance differences of the two :lol

Man, the F1 was on my wall when I was growing up. You can't beat it.

I'l gladly sacrifice the 10mph.
