I was able to get a key to the Friends & Family beta for this game, its pretty much perfection.
I admit I pretty much think all console FPS games are shit. Halo has always been the only FPS franchise on the consoles that could hold a candle to my favourite PC franchises.
Halo: Reach feels like a sequel to the original Halo more than the 2 & 3 (both I always thought were missing something), but fresh with additions such as customizable special ability which you get to chose from 1 of 4 different abilities (invisibility, jet pack, sprint, or armor lock) or the fact that elites and spartans now differ in size and abilities. Weapon and map wise the game takes inspiration from Halo 1 with the weapon of choice being the pistol.
Matchmaking and UI has been greatly improved, with matchmaking putting you in a match within 20-30 seconds a huge improvement from Halo 3 where it would take 2-3 minutes at the minimum.
i was always skeptical about the halo series and always thought it was overhyped as a quake rip-off
however, this game looks quite promising compared to other halo titles
I loved the AR in the first Halo (in 3 it sounded pussy as fuck), and my buddy got his hands on a beta invite the day of its release. The other new weapons (needle rifle...) and Armor Abilities are pretty sick too.

I've played a lot of q3 back in the day (still do quake live) never made the connection lol
anyways halo has always been "that" console fps for me, reach is outstanding from what I've played
the new assassination melee's fucking own, sneaked up behind a jetpack dude using the invisi-camo
I love halo multiplayer. Wasted 100's of hours, however I've never bothered putting more than 1 hour into campaign. So is this multiplayer gonna be a bunch of masterchiefs going at it or more like the last halo release (which ive never played lol). Posted via RS Mobile
On Monday, May 3, 2010, the HaloŽ: Reach Multiplayer Beta lands on Xbox LIVEŽ. All you need to participate is an Xbox LIVE Gold account, the Halo 3: ODST campaign disc, and approximately 1.2GB of free hard drive space.
To download the beta, just follow these easy steps:
1. Insert the Halo 3: ODST campaign disc and launch the game.
2. Select “Play the Beta” from the main menu. (You won’t see this choice prior to May 3.)
3. The first time you do this, Halo 3: ODST will need to download the beta from Xbox LIVE Marketplace. You’ll see the window below, and you’ll need to select “Confirm Download.
4. When the download has finished, choose “Continue.”
5. You’ll be taken back to the Halo 3: ODST main menu again. Select “Play the Beta” once more.
6. Now that you’ve successfully downloaded the beta, selecting “Play the Beta” will launch the game, instead of downloading it.
7. Enjoy helping us test Halo: Reach, and get that pre-order in so you’ll be ready when the game ships this Fall!
Note: If you received an early invitation to participate in the exclusive Halo: Reach Beta, additional information will start arriving the week of May 3rd. Due to the volume of participants, it may take 48 hours or more for you to receive your token. Be sure to check your email.
You can play it as long as you have the ODST disc in, or if you have a beta code.

at least it looks like their forcing one side play spartans and one side play elites on some game modes
its always saddening that the elites were way overlooked as your avatar character on halo 2 and 3 multiplayer
they mention that elites are obviously taller and bigger than spartans but mentioned that they manage to balance 2 characters out that really subtle differences
It's pretty fun. Very different from the original Halo trilogy multiplayer though. Good thing there's an option to switch back your controls to the Halo 3 layout.

Halo 3 controls blew. I like the melee button where it is now in Reach. Much easier to beat with, instead of letting a control stick go to press b. Posted via RS Mobile
